As you may be aware our club is sending competitors to take part in this international competition, and we are encouraging members from other university clubs to join us. The first training session will take place this Sunday, April the 22nd, at 10:00 a.m. in the UCD Sports Centre with Brendan McGrath, who travelled to Africa several years ago to take part in another such competition. He is an extremely competent instructor and very knowledgeable about Africa. This session is intended to give an idea of the sort of training necessary for this level of competition and to offer an opportunity for people interested to meet their fellow competitors and coaches. There will also be a discussion of the selection of the team and time for people to voice any queries they may have. This competition presents a very exciting opportunity for students to travel to Africa and to compete at international level. The trip will involve training with African coaches, the tournament itself, and tourist activites such as safaris, to be decided upon at a later date.
