[Karateclubstudents] Competition this Saturday
From the UCC Karate Club:
Hi All, The competition is going ahead as planned, this coming Saturday (26th November) at 12 noon in Hall 3 of the Mardyke Arena. There will be someone from our club at the reception of the Mardyke Arena from 11:30 to meet and greet and ensure visiting students are admitted to the complex. If anybody cannot find the Mardyke Complex, they are welcome to call me on 0877548495 for directions The day will begin at 12 with a short warm-up training session with our Sensai, Susan Dwane. Next we will begin the individual Kata event, starting with the beginners and working up through the grades. At the moment its looking like the categories will be divided into beginners, intermediate (purple and below), and advanced (brown and above). This may change on the day depending on the numbers of various grades in attendance. After the Kata events there will be a short break before the individual Kumite event begins. Beginners will NOT be permitted to enter the Kumite event. All those who are competing in the Kumite every MUST WEAR PROTECTIVE MITTS AND A MOUTH GARD. If any people want to compete who have not given their names yet please reply to this email stating name and grade. Extra people will be allowed to register on the day, but to avoid delays it is best to let us know in advance. Spectators are also welcome to attend. In the interest of fairness we invite each club to contribute an experienced trainer/member to help with adjudication/refereeing. There is a small entry fee of 5 Euros per person. This is to cover the small cost of hosting the event. Any remaining funds will be put towards organizing a night out on the on Saturday. All those who are at the competition are welcomed and encouraged to attend. (Details will be announced on the day) We look forward to hosting the event Kind Regards Colm Mc Caffrey (Captain - UCC Karate Club) www.ucc.ie/karate karate@clubs.ucc.ie 0877548495 -- Ronan Barrett, Postgraduate Research Student, School of Computing, Dublin City University, Ireland.
