Ok people. Stop.
Stop.
Let the foam die down. What?
I think everyone is getting a little worked up. I have proposed that
is a little more than a PRO meeting. Dave disagrees. No. If it was a PRO meeting, then Kevin needs to go alone. My point is that it is a public relations excercise, therefore within the scope of the PRO's
this portfolio. Whether or not Kevin is finally confirmed as the fourth attendee is irrelevant to this point.
I have proposed that we send our top 2 elected representatives + a techie. Dave disagrees. Yes. I think we should get someone else in who can argue a point effectively and calmly.
Dave suggests we send our Chair, PRO and a technical person. He has
good
reasons for this as he believes this to be nothing more than a PRO meeting. No. I have stated many times that this meeting is very important indeed.
Here is where the disagreement lies. Is this meeting a PRO excercise,
or
more than that? It's a PR exercise, not a PRO exercise. At the core of it is that fact that our image within the college is not too good. This *must* be improved upon.
I believe it to be more than a PRO excercise as it's our first good
meeting with the CC since the EVENT. I also believe we should be treating
face-to-face this
meeting as more than a PRO event. It is a serious policy meeting A policy meeting? Can you please explain this point?
This meeting is *VERY IMPORTANT*, but that does not mean it's not public relations. In fact, it is a *VERY IMPORTANT* public relations excercise. Though it is within the scope of the PRO's portfolio, which is quite obvious, such is the level of importance that the portfolio restrictions matter very little. As I have stated SEVERAL times: Whether or not the PRO is finally confirmed as the fourth attendee is irrelevant to the fact that it is within his portfolio. The fourth attendee has NOT been finalised, but I know Kevin and Des are ready and able to go.
Please stop this anomosity. If anyone has nothing good to say please
don't
say it. And as advice, I would like to ask everyone to read posts fully and carefully before replying, and to do so in a manner that will promote discussion of matters important to the society. This goes to everyone, including me.
We're going to have to come up with a team for this meeting from the
people
who read the list. Could people write back and tell us wheather they 1. believe this to be a PRO meeting or not Read the point two above this.
2. Who should go.
Which is what should be discussed here.
I don't think this list is the best place to discuss everything. I
we have to formalise an interactive meeting place that we can use even if minds is down. I think the IRC (internet relay chat) idea is good. What do y'all think. Well, I know my access to the net, at home, is fairly shaky in terms of definite times... it's my Dad's PC connecting to the net, and he's very
think protective. I can therefore only guarantee the required level of net access in work, and that is a 9-5:30 job. Some people do not have access to the net in work, so they will be able to connect at a later time. Because of this, the list is perfect. The only thing better (and I'm not certain about it's security) would be a bulletin board... and, if needed, I *think* I can install vBulletin Lite on the Minds account on Redbrick. David Barrett
