Dave,
I always thought the Public Relations Officer dealt with public relations, and that extended beyond posters, and certainly beyond Fair's Day. I also thought that "the public" was more than just students. Please explain why this is not the case. I never said it was just about posters and fairs day .... the PRO should be orgainsiing all sorts of novel events to get the students in ALL YEAR ROUND ... I would consider last years BBQ as a PR event. If it helps at all you can sum up the PRO's responsibilities as "a PA System & Recruitment Officer". It is seen (weather rightly or wrongly) as the lowest of the committee possitions and hence the PRO comming COULD be interpreted as us not taking this seriously, while the VP gives the impression that we are serious about this.
I'd also like everyone to discuss this, as I think me and Bart are the only two to actually say anything about the possibility of Bart's involvement. Indeed ... do other people feel that it would be helpfull or pointless for me to be there??? I only volunteered because I feel it is for the good of the society if you (the committee as as whole) dissagree that's grand, but the offer is there.
Should this be called the Common Time scenario? The lack of a common timeframe for interaction is the reason this is a bad idea. You'll only get some of the group participating, not all. A message board is probably better or a news group. It is also tecxhnically possible to vote by email but this will take time (about a day for a vote) so we would need to have a very clear and concise motion to vote on before we start making a decision.
