Re: [Minds-disaster] RE: [Minds-disaster] Stop
As I have said: * It is a public relations exercise (with a particular subsection of the public... college staff). * The portfolio distinctions are lessened in importance because of how critical this meeting is. For example, Des has been considered... but he's the treasurer.
I have already put down that i think that i consider this more than a pr exercise. (agree to disagree on that one) Des, even though he is treasurer, would still be a better choice than Kevin. And i have given reasons for this so i hope i wont have to go into that again!
I still don't think that you're needed, or that you will be any better at the meeting than Kevin or Des. Thank you for volunteering though.
I think that Bart would be a benefit to minds at this meeting. Noel has already talked to the CC about webpages so the union has already brought it up and Bart would be there as (present or past -- its still not clear) Socs officer and I do agree that he would be able to sing praises better than us, tell them how important we are! AS well as that, he's good at argueing and at listening, he's been at important meetings before and knows what hes doing. I think that he should be there!
I'd also like everyone to discuss this, as I think me and Bart are the only two to actually say anything about the possibility of Bart's involvement.
I thought that Aiden brought it up (willing to admit im not sure who did ) along with a few other good points that i agree with.
Should this be called the Common Time scenario? The lack of a >common timeframe for interaction is the reason this is a bad idea. You'll only >get some of the group participating, not all.
I agree with Dave, I think a bullitin board would be best. I know that i can only be online from 6 in the evening, unless its a weekend. I know there are some people who can be on all day but I have to pay for my phone bill! For my two cents: 1) dave 2) bart 3) cian 4) to be decided! It *is* a PR exercise. However, this meeting will lay the groundwork for all subsequent meetings with the CC, and on a broader note the future of society.
Des, even though he is treasurer, would still be a better choice than Kevin. And i have given reasons for this so i hope i wont have to go into that again! No problem. We have received little extra input on this point (it seems to be between me and you, with Bart saying one thing about "Kevin shouldn't replace Siobhan" a while back, which is a given). This is something that must be discussed.

The main problem I see is that he has no official standing... he may have been the SU Socs rep, but that doesn't change the fact that he is no longer it (but he's the nearest thing to one at the moment).

I'll do it tommorrow night (it's getting late, and I have to go home eventually).
For my two cents: 1) dave 2) bart 3) cian 4) to be decided! So do you want to go or not? Personally, I think you'd be better going than Bart; and that Kevin or Des would be best in the fourth slot.
Thanks for the change in posting style. Come on people! Discuss! And just so this doesn't get misinterpreted, I'm aiming that at the people who haven't done so already! David Barrett
