Re: [Minds-disaster] A word!
2) Yes, I am vice-chair and I have to say that for the last year that I have done not much, not because I didnt want to but because of a monopoly. Pardon?
There has been a monopoly over the last year in the committee, you, phil and kevin! Next year, I know that I will be using my vote to make sure that that does not happen again! Darragh may have done something wrong (im not getting into that argument again) but at least he knew how to listen to people before making decisions about the running of a society. You DONT!
You haven't given a clear argument *against* that, only stating ?I disagree?.
em ... I did if you remember in the email that i sent to you! and i think that ive covered it as well in the last post i made
I beg your pardon? I didn't say it was a bad idea.
DAve that was EXACTLY what you said! you said that "it is a bad idea because it attaches too much importance to the meeting" ... that was your wording!
The implication I was always drawing was that it would be a good idea... but if you can't see that your attending would display that we find this meeting very important *indeed*, I don't know what to do.
I could be tempted to call you every name under the sun in four languages, but im not going to! What i was saying all along was that i thought that it was a good idea me going! and you always said that it wasnt!
BTW Dave, I asked you for your number before on a few occasions and offered you mine but you told me there was no point. This was a *long* time ago, wasn't it? I remember it being a good few months back. We were talking. On Minds. And college was still on.
and in the halls and before exams! at least three seperate occasions and i did need your number sometimes, esp when i was talking to noel and couldnt find hide or hair of you around! I've kept out of this so far, because quite frankly it is a load of bollox. However, there apparently is a "monopoly" in existence. I wasn't aware of this. Do you feel you were excluded? Do you think that any important decisions were made without you? I certainly don't remember any momentous decisions being made, all this list has done is debate a meeting which hasn't actually happened yet. Apart from that, it has informed anyone who reads their email of what is going on, 99% of which is beyond our control. No decisions have been made, myself and dave have just been lobbying to get our machine back, and to get a good setup on our new machine. Did you feel that your input was not wanted last year? If so, that is unfortunate, because it is all in your mind. I didn't see you doing anything, but hey you were busy. It was up to you. If you had actually said anything (and I'm not referring to this meeting), it would have been listened to. But you didn't, so I don't see what the hell you are complaining about. Yes, there has been very little going on in our society. What we need now are members, and loads of them. Perhaps we should have an icq meeting and discuss this, more important topic? ----- Original Message ----- From: <honeybear@cuddle.co.uk> To: "david barrett" <mindschair@eircom.net>; <minds-disaster@redbrick.dcu.ie> Sent: Tuesday, August 07, 2001 7:49 PM Subject: Re: [Minds-disaster] A word! the meeting" ... that was your wording!

There has been a monopoly over the last year in the committee, you, phil and kevin! Explain how?
Next year, I know that I will be using my vote to make sure that that does not happen again! If you are threatening not to vote for me next year, running for President; there's no point. I'm not running... I've explained this to you several times.
Darragh may have done something wrong (im not getting into that argument again) but at least he knew how to listen to people before making decisions about the running of a society. You DONT! That is not my opinion of Darragh. But Siobhan, what is this list for? You said you remained silent though listening... that was your choice. And I have ALWAYS replied to every email personally sent to me, and remained active on the list.
You haven't given a clear argument *against* that, only stating ?I disagree?. em ... I did if you remember in the email that i sent to you! and i think that ive covered it as well in the last post i made Nope.
I beg your pardon? I didn't say it was a bad idea. DAve that was EXACTLY what you said! you said that "it is a bad idea because it attaches too much importance to the meeting" ... that was your wording! Exactly my wording? Attached is the complete conversation we had on this matter. You are the only person to mention "bad idea", and that was on a different matter. The nearest I came to saying that was when I asked for a better reason than: "the vice-president attending also raises the perceived importance (to us) of the meeting"... which is the point I was putting across.
The implication I was always drawing was that it would be a good idea... but if you can't see that your attending would display that we find this meeting very important *indeed*, I don't know what to do. I could be tempted to call you every name under the sun in four languages, but im not going to! Why would you?
What i was saying all along was that i thought that it was a good idea me going! and you always said that it wasnt! NO. You are putting words into my mouth. Please, read over the conversation again. You will see I never said it was a bad idea, and the point was always as stated above.
BTW Dave, I asked you for your number before on a few occasions and offered you mine but you told me there was no point. This was a *long* time ago, wasn't it? I remember it being a good few months back. We were talking. On Minds. And college was still on. and in the halls and before exams! Really? I don't remember that (which, as I have stated before, in the attached conversation I think, doesn't mean you didn't).
at least three seperate occasions and i did need your number sometimes, esp when i was talking to noel and couldnt find hide or hair of you around! Considering I almost never put on my phone for fear of microwaving parts of my anatomy there's no point. And I almost *always* left it at home.
