Re: [Minds-disaster] The Story With Access
We need to hear from the CC exactly what they hope to achieve with this "firewall". It sounds highly ridiculous to me, that they should put one of the most secure machines in the college behind the firewall, while the rest of the college is unfirewalled, and highly unsecure. This point needs to be made to the CC, directly. It could also be mentioned casually, that we can fix minds so it cannot be used for similar email bombing campaigns in the future. Also, is there any way we can make the computer science department not take the rap for our web pages? In cases I have heard of, like demon internet in the uk, the service provider was sued, but only because they didnt take down offending content. I would have no problem with the computer science dept pulling down web pages, if what was on them was against the constitution of minds, as well as any other laws. ie, the minds constitution should have a few words to say about what is acceptable on web pages. Its a small price to pay for having full access to minds. Philip Brennan, Executive "SYSADMIN"

It needs to be made clear to the CC *NOW* how much we are worth to the students of the college and also to the "college", before documents are drawn up. By the way, I'll have a proposal drawn up for Wednesday morning to submit to them.
