DARRAGH: Just to make this clear... at the emergency committee meeting on Thursday at 2(ish) it was made clear that the committee didn't see you staying on as chairperson as making it any easier for us to get access to our machine back. The fact that a government department lodged an official complaint with us meant the whole situation had to be taken as being of the utmost importance. We know you didn't send the most emails; but it was that the chairperson of the society wrote the program that did it that was worrying. The moves to impeach you were in NO WAY a personal attack on you... it was hoped it would be seen that the society did not want to be associated with your actions. Because you were the chairperson you had responsibilites beyond the normal member. We don't want you to leave the society at all... you'll still have Minds> access rights and privileges. I'm sorry if you thought it was some sort of attack on you or if you took it personally; that was not the intention; the only intention of these actions was to get the society back it's machine and try and soften the blow the society would have to take from the Government/HEA/NUI/Department. Remember; Noel Hogan has said in a letter to you that if any serious action is taken against you, or David Bolger for that matter, the Student's Union will move to protect the victim. I would appreciate if you would attend the EGM and read out all or part of your letter of resignation and perhaps say a few words. EGM: An EGM will be held at 6:15 in the Callan Foyer on Wednesday. That's the official location; but I'm still trying to get a room for us (Jim, the guy who organised the rooms, wasn't in on Friday), so at about 6:20 we'll hopefully go to whatever room I get. This is what I want on the agenda: 1) Introduction, saying what happened to the society. 2) Darragh to read out his resignation/say a few words => if Darragh cannot attend, it will be projected [ if we get a room, which we should ] and read out by a committee member. 3) The Sargon issue... why he has to leave 4) Support from Redbrick and Compsoc Galway; information 5) Voting in a new Chairperson and sorting out the committee. 6) Short list of plans for the society (tutorial postponed, different things like that) 7) Short presentation to the Clubs & Socs there of the Nervecenter system (if we have time, actual *work* on it started Thursday Night/Friday Morning) 8) Get some beer I'm not too sure about number 7 though. I would like a committee meeting before the EGM, an informal one on Tuesday. Give me times people. MEMBERS: This is from my copy of the members taken on fairs day.
