THere are a number of points that really need to be made and please don't anyone take this personaly it just has to be said. Np.

The most important point is that the job of the chair is NOT to make decisions FOR the society but to chair meetings and impliment decissions made by the societies MEMBER (at a GM) and the COMMITTEE (at a committee meeeting). But if we can meet over ICQ... <skip>

If there is a decision to be made a meeting MUST be held because no one person has the power to just decide these things. I have to point out... I have not "just decided things", but have made suggestions backed up with what I think are reasonable arguments.

With that in mind I think it should be painfully clear that the committee need to get together (perhaps even over ICQ) and work this out because otherwise something simple like this could cause real resentment within the society and that could be VERY damaging to the society (and harm friendships too). <continued> ... we can have the meeting over the list. Everyone is aware of, and subscribed to, the list. We have discussions on the list about what we plan to do.

OK that's my thoughts on this problem, please take them on board and remember they are not aimed at anyone in particular but at the group as a whole. I'm fairly sure a bulk of it's aimed at me, but it's constructive critiscm so no problem :)
