Re: [Minds-disaster] The IP of Minds

We're going to need to network Minds and another PC together to get the files off (or rip out the HDD... no way in hell without somesort of water+staticproof box), as according to Darragh the support for MSDOS disks isn't built into our kernel compile. The drivers are there, as far as I can tell, but no kernel support... and I hardly think that it's worth a kernel recompile *just* yet.
It may be possible to load a kernel module to handle msdos filesystems. Try
kldload msdos
Assuming that I built the modules last time I installed a kernel there, that should dynamically add msdos filesystem support to the OS. One BIG problem there is that Kevin and Rory have a few hundred megs of files (which aren't as high a priority as getting people's assignments/society webpages off).
Thanks Cian. BTW, at the meeting on Wednesday the motion of Minds paying for Kevin's paternity test was raised, but he said we were all sure what the results where going to be. :) David Barrett

Bloody users! ;o) In that case, FTP should be fine. You'll need a UTP crossover cable - James Cotter could probaby give you a lend of one. Then, remember to screw around with the network settings only on the box you've brought in. Bring up its network interface as 149.157.248.52 or somesuch, with an identical netmask to MiNDS. Then you should just be able to FTP in from the connected box by IP address.

Even when MiNDS is down, we've still got the Children of Cian. ;o) Cian -- "there is nothing wrong /* Cian with emulating a man ** I need to sleep. Let me sleep. who has a nice beard" */ while(student);
