Hey, why not do both? (it is our 10th birthday, let's make a big deal) :-) If it's feasible anyway - if someone gets costings for a ball style event in Clontarf Castle etc. (to rent the place, food, band - probably around 2-4 grand in total), then if they'd like to share them, I reckon we could attempt squeezing our sponsorship contacts. If we want it to happen then we can possibly make it happen :-) An alternative would be to mix it - book out Clontarf Castle or somewhere (meal etc.), but we'll make it casual, have all "redbrick bands" who are willing come back and play for the night - we could set up a few stands, maybe even a LAN corner or something (!), and just sort of "mix up" the whole formal ball / casual fun night out / nerdy gathering "paradigm". In true redbrick style :-) Kp On Thu, Oct 20, 2005 at 09:18:15AM +0100, Orla Ryan wrote:
Oh my God.... 10 years... I feel so OLD!!! :)
I'd prefer a fairly informal gathering - you know, find a nice bar somewhere (Bacchus, anyone? ;-) ), lay on some drink, nibbles and music, everyone gets stuck in and wander around chatting to people & catching up.
I'm really looking forward to it anyway :-)

Hello all,
As you may or may not be aware, last night I unwittenly get myself involved with the committee this year as the new Events Officer. As you can all assume the 10th year birthday is now the most important date in my mind (its sad i know) so the 3rd of March it is. Already I have a meeting with a lovely lady from clontarf castle trying to pitch her hotel to me, i'll see what great deals I can get from her (it'll probably be like gettting blood from a stone but i'll fill you all in on the gorey details later)
For those who havent been to Clontarf Castle before or for those who would like a quick reminder what room/place I am talking about here is a few pics
Oooh, purdy! But unfortunately a long long way out of our price range :/
what's the overall plan for the event? formal? casual? dinner? etc
personally i'ld like something along the lines of redbrick's 5th birthday party (or was it sixth?) in the boom boom room (above conways).
People seem to be split on the issue, some love the idea of the big formal shindig and some love the cosier relaxed atmosphere ala the fifth birthday. It's hard to tell which approach will win out at this point.
I'm not sure which one I'd like the most to be honest, I don't really care as much about the event but more about seeing the people who'll be there *cue "awwwww"s* :p
From now on, please email me all your ideas and suggestions for this event, I see there is somethings going on and if any support is needed for these to continue please let me know and i'll see what I can do..
Thanks for reading this long eassy :) again any questions/suggestions/critism please mail me
Regards
Dara
ps. if this appears from disusered@rb its cause chfn is broken
so that's why you ran for committee? ;)
Shhh, it's a sekret!
Michelle -- 'Cause I'm just a little girl you see But there's a hell of a lot more to me Don't ever underestimate what I can do Don't ever tell me how I'm meant to be
