What do you all think is the best way to get started on the Anniversary book?
(1) Decide on a structure here, then farm off bits to people (while also accepting any random things that other people write in the meantime) or (2) Make a "call for submission", and set a first deadline on when stuff has to be in, and to be read/reviewed by people on the list.
A bit of both. We can assign bits and take bits. We should also propose some ideas. A few paragraphs on the following would be cool. In fact I'll start harrassing people on the newsgroups now :) Redbrick pre-history (pre-95 - the state of networking, unix and student computing services in DCU). The gestation of Redbrick. Redbrick servers and services 95-97, 98-2000, 2001-2003, 2004 - present * The evolution of Redbrick servers and services * The history of Redbrick events 95-97, 98-2000, 2001-2003, 2004 - present. Update and/or write encyclopedia entries for: <generate list>
- "Generations" section: 2-page spread for each gen? In 'collage' style..
What does a "collage" mean?
- "Encyclopedia" section: this could be quite bulky actually, hmm
The encyclopedia needs editing and updating.
- "Yearbook" section: like magluby's photo site? Drusilla suggested this!
Yeh, a "Most likely to... " section... * drjolt - Most likely to work for google, etc. ;)
- "Corporate" section: What redbrick members are doing in businesses
I saw piero there the other day in the SBP, he's got his own company or something. It might be worth having a list of companies owned by (ex-)brickies. Oh, I've got more stuff for your redbrick collage at home, I found more posters at home over the weekend. Brian.
