[Redbrick-birthday] The story so far...
Heya all, I've been on this list since before the summer and I've seen a lot of ideas come and go. Now I'm wondering, do we have a list of the ideas that are going to be followed through on? The magazine is one, I hope, any others? The other point I want to bring up is donations. As you all know, we are very eager to get lots of money scabbed from the associates (AND members, don't worry), and I'd like to extend the hand of begging to everyone on this list first. We're looking into getting a paypal account at the moment, but if that can't happen does anyone have any great ideas? Personally I think leaving it in my bank account would be perfectly acceptable... :) Michelle -- 'Cause I'm just a little girl you see But there's a hell of a lot more to me Don't ever underestimate what I can do Don't ever tell me how I'm meant to be
Maybe encourage people to set up a direct debit (??) where they automatically transfer say 50 euro once a year into the Rb bank account around the time of account renewals? You could start up an alumni newsletter which covers recent alumni or rb events and also lists what things the alumni fund has been spent on. Paypal is convenient, but most people nowadays have internet banking and at least with internet banking you know 100% of the money you donate goes to Rb. (Assuming Paypal charges per donation, don't know if they do?) As for the magazine.. has anyone commited to working on it? When does it have to be done for? Has anyone done mock ups of how it should look? Has there been an agreement on what way it should be and what the general content should be? Also, who has final say on all these things? Are you the official Redbrick birthday deciding person Michelle or is it that Dara guy? Also also, now that I remember, Karl put a summary on the wiki: http://www.redbrick.dcu.ie/~wiki/mw/Redbrick_Anniversary I don't have time to go into all that stuff, though I'm generally wary of duplicating information in the book that has already been on the website (or people's home pages) for years (e.g. the encyclopedia). I think you should get a list of people who will definitely work on whatever items (e.g. the book, the event, raising sponsorship) and between them (don't count people who add a line to the wiki and consider that their contribution, otherwise you have too many people) and the Redbrick committee agree a list of things to do for the birthday, including the details (e.g. the book content/format), and then agree deadlines and just hound those people until they get it done :o) That's my 2 cent. Damnit Conor, you could give Redbrick more than 2 cent! Kp -- Hello. I'm Leonard Nimoy. The following tale of alien encounters is true. And by true, I mean false. It's all lies. But they're entertaining lies. And in the end, isn't that the real truth? The answer is: No. -- What was the question again?, "The Springfield Files"
