Hey all, Great turn out on Thursday and Monday at the pool training. All you new trainees are doing swimmingly…. ☺ Just a reminder to bring swim hats this week. (There are some available in the vending machine outside the pool for €3). Also I’m doing a sponsored sea swim for Chernobyl Children’s Trust next Saturday 27th November (minus the wetsuit of course - brrrr). Most of you will know that I was over in Belarus during the summer and was really affected by the suffering that I saw there. Anyway this sea swim will raise money for one very special little girl called Nastia that I met at an orphanage while I was there. Nastia is 3 years old and has severe Spina Bifida. Her spine is so badly twisted, that she cannot sit in a chair, her muscles are so weak that she cannot hold any object and her head is swollen with fluids. Nastia has all of her mental faculties and very much wants to do anything she can, ie training or surgery to help her situation. The director of the orphanage asked us if we could please get her over to Ireland and have a consultant look at her. Well I just got word that the Belarusian government have finally agreed to let Nastia out of the country. She will be seen by a consultant here free of charge and we will try and get her whatever medical treatment she needs. Basically we are trying to raise the money for her and a nurse to fly from Belarus to Ireland for the initial consultation. I’m so grateful to everyone who helped me raise funds and donated to the charity before, and I really don’t expect any of you to do so again. However if anybody else wants to donate even just €1 or so I’d be really grateful. I’ll have the sponsorship card with me tonight or if you want to just email me I’ll put your name down and you can give it to me again. Thanks a mil and see you tonight, Ali ________________________________ From: Guinan, Alice Sent: 11 November 2010 13:33 To: 'SubAquaClub'; 'subaqua-new@lists.redbrick.dcu.ie' Subject: Thursday Night Pool Training Hello all, Don’t forget training tonight in DCU pool from 8 – 9pm. This is particularly important for crossovers to get your fitness levels up so I expect to see some of you there this evening. Also, a gentle reminder to continuing members that you won’t get your Active Diver signed off unless you attend 4 pool training sessions (in Northside or DCU) before Christmas. We had great fun last week and it is really nice to relax afterwards with a sauna or jacuzzi. See you later on, Ali ________________________________ From: Guinan, Alice Sent: 04 November 2010 13:10 To: Guinan, Alice; 'SubAquaClub'; 'subaqua-new@lists.redbrick.dcu.ie' Subject: DCU Pool Access - Thursday Nights Hi everybody, Thursday night training/relaxing in sauna starts in earnest tonight in DCU Pool from 8-9pm!
