[DCU SAC] Completing Registration for 2011 and Replacing Old Logbooks
Dear members, If you intend snorkeling or diving with the club for 2011 you need to be registered with CFT (the Irish Underwater Council). To ensure all new members are registered in time for the lectures on Nov 27th we need to get your registration form and pay CFT asap. If you have handed in the registration form you will have now received your CFT number and password. This allows you access to your own personal profile on the CFT website where all your personal details, certificate details etc are recorded. It is accessed from the following address and I have attached a guide to help you navigate it: https://members.cft.ie/mms/?mvcskel_redirect_url=Auth%2FLogin There are three sections on your profile that need to be filled in for your registration to be completed. *1. Medical Assessment* - this will have been filled in by *me* after receiving your registration form with your doctors stamp. *2. Fitness to Dive Form* - this needs to be filled in by *you* annually (including your first year), confirming that nothing has changed since your last medical. If something has changed, please fill it in, this does not mean you will not be allowed to dive, it just means that the CFT medical board will review it and check that it is still ok for you to dive. *3. Water Fitness Test -* this needs to be filled in by the *Dive Officer*, after receiving confirmation from the Training Officers that you have completed the annual pool test. If you have been attending the training sessions on Monday nights, you have completed the requirements already and this will be marked off for you. However if you are a returning member, a crossover or diving on your own grades for the year, it is up to you to present yourself to the Training Officers (John john.needham2@gmail.com, Ali Alice.Guinan@enterprise-ireland.com) and complete the test for them after attending 4 Thurs training sessions (DCU 8-9pm). *Pool Test:* -Snorkel or swim 200m without stopping -Snorkel dive with fins and mask and fin a distance of 25m underwater -Tow a snorkel diver 50m Once all three sections have been completed you will receive your annual membership card for 2011 and only then will you be allowed to undertake any SCUBA activities with our club. Also if you do not complete registration by the end of this semester you will not receive your annual dive log to sign off your snorkels come Feb! FYI - For anyone still using the old version of the logbook, CFT have requested that all members use the new logbook from 2011 onwards. Until 31st December 2010, any member can purchase the new CFT Logbook and a full set of replacement certificates for only €30+p&p at http://www.cft.ie/shopcft.html I think thats about it, any questions please feel free to ask!
