[DCU SAC] DCU Pool open on Thursdays
Hi everyone, Just a quick note to let you all know that the DCU pool is open to the club on Thursday evenings from 8-9. It’s really important for everyone to get their water fitness up before the snorkel trip in February so all club members should attend if possible. For trainees this is a great opportunity to practice all your exercises prior to your pool test in early February. There are still a couple of returning members who have not completed the 4 pool sessions required for their pool fitness test. (Please email myself or John once you have completed these and are ready for your pool test) Monday night pool training will begin again after the exams. Festive Greetings all, I hope you all had a lovely Christmas. It's nearly time to get in the sea at last! We're off to Carraroe in Connemara from 19 - 21st February for our annual snorkel trip. You don’t want to miss this one! I've provisionally booked two 4* lodges which accommodate 8 people each: http://www.carraroeholidaycottages.ie/about.htm These are a short distance from the coral strand (the only coral beach in Europe) and right beside the main pub in the town. Carraroe is a gorgeous spot where they all speak Irish!!! All trainees have to do 5 snorkels before diving in the sea to allow for acclimatisation to the water temperature. Current members must do 3 snorkels each. Therefore this is an excellent opportunity for all members to get their snorkels signed off and ………have a massive party. The weekend is subsidised by the club but should cost around €50-60 per person which will include food, accommodation and some booze. You’ll also need to budget for petrol and tolls (approx €70 per car). If you want to go please let me know by Mon 17th January at the latest as I may need to book extra accommodation. There is another lodge or cottage or extra mattresses available – preference will be given to those who reply first! Please do not assume that I will psychically know that you are coming no matter how special you think you are! Also please state in your reply if you need a lift or are able to offer someone a lift down. I’m hoping to make it 3 to a car where possible as we shouldn’t have too much gear. Remember, car-pooling saves these guys:[X] Here’s a link to photos from last year’s snorkel trip to wet your appetite…! http://www.redbrick.dcu.ie/~subaqua/photo_gallery.php Happy New Year!
