[Webmail-dev] Where to start.

Has anyone got any good links relating to squirrel mail (apart from the projects home page) and any advice for squirrel mail newbies ? Also what plugins (if any) are we considering using that are listed on the site? Hope these simple questions can start to get the ball rolling on this project. All answers appreciated, thanks. -Harry

First the technical details. The test install is located at /local/webmail/htdocs/webdev The group should have propoer mission on it if anything is wrong let me know The live version runs off https://redbrick.dcu.ie The test at https://redbrick.dcu.ie/webdev Everone on here should gets cyrus access on prodigy Okily dokily time to throw out some ideas. 2 Main issued need to be address for the system to become fully useable 1) I think the removal of frames or tidying of frames is necessary. When refreshing especially in opera each frame needs refreshing seperately and its a nightmare to use. this needs to be reconsidered. 2) The nntp plugin needs heavy customizing. I'll be installing it in a second on prodigy in its default form. I have my own hacks I;ve done to it for headers and things but this is a wider cleanup. Thing it needs: A cleaner interface. anyone whos used it knows its not pretty. Also currently all newsgroups names are stored i na file and all webmail users have to use these groups. It would be better in squirrelmail options to give the full list of groups and each user can select which boards to subscribe to. Also a way of using a similar method to a .jnewsrc file to show that they have read certain posts. Currently their just weblinks you know you've seen them cause their a different colour after clicking. No help if you log back in. Other to the above two the rest shows up as you use it and more will show as everyone user it. The aim of this group is to address these issues when people come up with them. they say "it should do this" we try add it in. So go play and come up with some other cool stuff it should have :) Get familiar with it's filesystem and stuff and then we can get moving on the above fixes. also if anyone has suggestions on more people suitable for this with good php let me know -- Redbrick - Dublin City University Networking Society Declan McMullen - Webmaster
