Hi guys,
There will be a GamesSoc EGM this Wednesday at 7:30pm in the Seminar Room in The Hub. The purpose of the meeting is to elect a new PRO. After a committee meeting last night it was decided that we are only electing one PRO and this can be anyone who is interested. "Photoshop skillz" are prefered but will not be necessary as you probably won't actually have to design any posters this year. More details will be revealed at the EGM which will be followed by the Console Night.
The EGM shouldn't take more than 10 minutes and all members are welcome to attend, in fact encouraged to attend :)

Hi guys,
For those of you who didn't get the chance to sign up for this Friday's Wired LAN Night yesterday we will have our table back in the Street in the Henry Grattan Building from 1pm-3pm again this afternoon. The cost if 5eur per member to attend.
Also just to remind you that half the places are already filled and we expect to sell out the remaining places today. If you want a place get there early :o)

PS. Tonight's Console Night in the Seminar Room of the Hub will go ahead as planned at 7:30 but will end at 9pm because everyone is going out and getting drunk at the Redbrick Freshers Ball ;-)
Hey guys,
Just a quick email to let you know that our first Wired LAN Night will take place this Friday (Friday 17th October) in Wired Internet Cafe, Augnier St. in town from 9pm until 8am on Saturday. The night will consist of lots of PC gaming including Counter-Strike, Day Of Defeat, Natural Selection, Battlefield 1942, Desert Combat 0.4, Medal Of Honour: Allied Assault, Quake 3, Unreal Tournament 2003, Age Of Empires 2, and many others.
If you want to be part of this lan night we will have a table set up in the street in the Henry Grattan building (the hall where the AIB bank is) taking signups. Price for this LAN is at a bargain of 5eur for members, as opposed to 30eur which it would cost if you walked in off the street. If you have friends you would like to bring along who are not members feel free to sign them up so long as they pay membership to Games Soc :o)
The table will be in action from 3pm today onwards in the Street.
We also have a Console Night on in the Seminar Room on Wednesday ngiht at 7:30pm as usual but this week with 8 player Halo. Drop along if that tickles your fancy :-)

ps. come to our LAN :-p Only 25 limited places per night and they sell like hot cakes so hurry up! :o)
Ok guys just to clarify a few things,
LAN Night is still going ahead as planned, just getting back to you with final details.
So far I have 22 confirmed so far (list follows soon). I'm pretty happy with 22, it's nice round number and pretty good for something organised during summer with such a small member base. Now, I'm going to get in contact with guy at Trinity tomorrow who organises other LANs in Yeah to see if we can pack more in.
As for the night, I ask all those coming to turn up at 8:30 - 9pm. Any later than 9:30pm and you'll just annoy me =)
Price is 15eur per head for all attending payable in cash on the door. The reason members are not getting a reduction is beacuse it was not possible to get subsidising from the SPC out of term for an event we did not plan like 3 months in advance.
PCs should be set up as much as possible for the night so we won't have to spend ages setting stuff up.
That's about it really. Any other questions please email me. I expect all those who gave me their names to turn up on the night. Any who don't or who cancel between now and then get hunted down and slapped on the bum. Really hard.

Hi guys,
Dave here.
The last Games Soc event of the summer is about to take place in the upcoming weeks. Bear with me for a few minutes to read the email please, means a bit to me and such :o)
Here's the deal. Ye@h (the net cafe where we've been having our lans and planned to next year) is closing down on August 22nd for good. No more net cafe ever. Which also means I'm out of the job :-( So with them leaving the staff would like a going-away lan and we have been given first preference for this one.
Date has been decided on as the 22nd of August, that's a Friday. Will be 9pm until 8am and I myself will be running the night in conjunction with Nigal which means I have control of all the machines and servers for the last night of business ever there so basically we can play whatever we want. I'll list a few suggestions at bottom.
I'd ask that all those interested please reply to this email (zyox(a)redbrick.dcu.ie) with the subject "Yeah LAN Night" with any questions about the night. You could also go to the LAN Nights section on our forums at http://games.redbrick.dcu.ie/forums. And for those who wish to sign up, email me as soon as you can with your details. This night will also be open to non-society members (ie. any friends you want to bring) so if you would like to bring a friend just stick it in the email as well.
Right I think that's about it. Most of the committee will be there and the cafe should be full (which means 60 players, kind of good for battlefield ;-)) so it should be a really good night. Please think about it and get back to me if you are interested.

Ps, Games suggestions:
- Battlefield 1942
- Desert Combat 0.4 (excellent gulf war mod for BF)
- Galactic Conquest 0.1b (new star wars mod for BF)
- Eve of Destruction (maybe. vietnam mod for BF)
- Counter Strike (well we kind of have to don't we? heehee)
- Quake 3 (of course)
- Unreal Tournament 2003 (hahaha no bloody way)
Any other suggestions are of course welcome. anything i can have installed before the night please tell me and I'll do my best to get it on in advance so there won't be too much having to configure machines on the night. Thanks guys, sign up!
This upcoming Friday (11th July) there will be a LAN night hosted in Ye@h!
internet cafe on Dawson Street (Where we had the last one)
Ye@h are running the LAN and are looking for places to be filled.
It will run from 9pm until 8am and directions on how to get there are on
www.yeah.ie
Ye@h have asked DCU Games Soc that we try to fill these places. Already some
+interest has been shown in going to the lan by a few members so I figured a mail
+to the list would be a good idea.
If you wish to go to the LAN please contact myself (zyox(a)redbrick.dcu.ie) by
+Thursday at the latest or Nigal on nigall(a)yeah.ie before Friday.

Just in case you guys have forgotten, or just don't care ;), the Games
Soc AGM is on tomorrow, Wednesday, starting at 8pm in the Seminar Room.
Come along and use your voice to tell us what you thought of Games Soc
this year, perhaps even run for a position; there will be the usual console
gaming session afterwards too, so there'll be something to do while we
bore you with elections. Hope to see a good turnout!

Our annual general meeting(AGM) is on:
*** Wednesday 23rd (April) in the Seminar Room, the Hub ***
At it, we will be electing a new committee for the coming year, as well
as making any other decisions that need to be made for the society. I
urge you all to come, and consider either running for a position, and
help out the society get even better, or simply come to talk to the
committee if you have ideas on events etc for Games Soc.
the positions up for grabs are:
Chair,
Secretary,
Treasurer,
PRO,
Events/Equipment,
Webmaster
(check the forums for more details).
Afterwards, we will be having our regular Console Gaming taking place,
complete with our large screen projectors and GameCube ;)
PS - If you don't know where the Seminar Room is, go into the Hub, up
the stairs and it's the large room in front of you to your right at the
top of the stairs. Look for the darkened windows and screams from
gamers;)
Looking forward to seeing you there,
