from 10pm till 9am. Price is 4 euro for the night and there's 15 places

Well the Games Soc are organising a smallish byopc to be held on
Saturday/Sunday 14/15th in the Hub in DCU. Cost is 5 euro and gamessoc
members only.Details as follows :-
-:Setup:-
Saturday 12pm-2pm
This is the time set aside for setting up your pc and monitor. There will
be an FTP server up and running with all the latest patches for the games
to be played. Tables will be set up when you arrive and network cable and
power outlet supplied. You may come anytime up to 6pm.
-:Gaming:-
Saturday 2pm - Sunday 8am
Simple LAN gaming for the most part. A list of games to be played through
the night will be on the website shortly. Furthormore there will be three
tournaments with prizes on the night. Quake 3, Desert Combat, Counter
Strike 1.6. Details of how these tournaments will be run will also be made
avaible on the website shortly. In the upper part of the venue there will
also be consoles and projectors for those who tire of pc gaming. Consoles
and games will be provided though you are free to bring your own.
-:Food:-
Bring your own. We may order out for pizza during the night. There will
be bags attached to the tables for rubish and the upper level of the Venue
will be set up with tabels and a tv.
-:To Bring:-
You need only bring yourself, your pc and monitor and a two way
extension. All games should be installed before arrival to save time. No
speakers are allowed so bring headphones with you. You may, if you wish,
bring your own console and games.

subject:babyBYOPC and it will be based on first come first served.

Right well progress on Lab gaming has come to the top of our agenda and
due to how much this will impact on you, we want to know what games
you'd like to play! Already there are suggestions for Half Life, with
Counter Strike mod, Medal of Honour and other great games. Tell us what
you want so we can see what we can do :)

What can you expect?
Well GameCon truly is a multimedia games party, all the major games
systems will feature, PC, Xbox, PS2, GameCube, N-Gage and retro classics
too. Competitions will be held on the day with instant prizes for the
winners. You also gain point for every Competition game you win. Gain the
most point and you walk home with our overall star prize and all the
acclaim that goes with it. We will also have fun matches as well. Come for
the comps, come for the games or just come to meet other people who share
your passions.

Here are the results of this year's AGM.
There were 2 ammendments to the constitution:
- Add the position of Ordindary Member to the committee.
- Add the position of Console Ents to the committee and split up Ents into
PC Ents and Console Ents
There were no objections.

at 6:30pm.

"The Chairperson shall be the chief officer of the society whose functions
include chairing all meetings of the committee and officiating at meetings
of the society.(plus they pretty much do the communication between the soc
and the membership, college and sponsors)
The Secretary's function shall be to deal with all correspondence and records
of the society and to notify all members of meeting times. They shall duly
record the minutes of both committee and general assembly meetings.(Or in
reality, pretty much do the same thing as the chair, and help out with the
other stuff)
The Treasurer 's function shall be to administer the funds of the society
and to maintain accounts and budgets.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) shall be responsible for the advertising
of all functions of the society through all means possible. The office of
PRO shall have the responsibility of organising all receptions held by the
society, aided where necessary by other committee members.
The Webmaster shall be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance
of the web site. They shall work in conjunction with other members of the
committee in order to publicise society details via the web.
The Ents Officer shall have the responsibility of organising all receptions
held by the society.(though this kinda includes equipment as well)"

They will also be required to organise a team to run DCU's Mega LAN.

rooms and equipment as needed and running a console tournament each semester.

Just to advise people that have not been on the Game Soc boards (http://games.redbrick.dcu.ie/forum)
but due to the bank holiday on Monday, the tournament was postponed till
tonight. Tonights game is Halo and will begin with a 8 player capture the
flag warmup followed by the actuall tournament and more 8player madness
to finish up the night!

The long awaited tournament is about to enter Round 1 on Monday 29th March.
There is free entry to members - yes thats you - and the possiblity of walking
away with the rather nice grand prize of €60 euro!
The tournament will see a new game being played every week, starting with
Goldeneye this Monday coming. You will also be given the chance to practice
for the next week so you wont turn up wondering what that all important
'Fire' button is again. Posters are up all over the place giving the timetable
but in the event you havent seen any here it is:

The games themselves will be organised as follows::-
Each week you will play 3 times at each game. i have tried to make the games
as fair as possible for n00bs vrs. Vets. Points are awarded for the overall
winners of the games. 1st place will score 3 points, 2nd place 2 points
and 3rd place will score 1 point while 4th recieves 0 points.Heres an example
to help you understand ::-

Some games there will be special changes. For example in Super Monkey Ball
the First Game will be Monkey Fight, the second Monkey Race and again for
the third Monkey Fight. Similarly for Mario Kart Games 1 and 2 will be tournment
races while Game 3 will be in Battle Mode.
