Hey folks,
First off I just want to extend a warm welcome to all of our new members and also a welcome back to all of our renewed members. As many of you may already know this has been the most successful Clubs And Societies Day in our history. Not only have we doubled our membership since last year but were also the largest we have EVER been! As such you can expect an even bigger effort from us on the committee for the upcoming year.
Right so, lets get down to it, its events that you guys want and its events that youre going to get and as many of you saw over the last couple of days, weve had a pretty active first week back! First off, on Tuesday we were at the Redbrick Freshers Ball in The Vaults in town providing some console entertainment for the masses. That went down really well and all in all a great night was had by all some of us even had TOO good a night. 
Next, on Wednesday we had our first official Console Event of the year upstairs in the Hub in the Seminar Room. Our Xboxs, PS2 and Gamecubes were all in attendance and we had a nice crowd in there for the duration of the day. As some of you noticed the event was slightly shorter than usual, this however was due to a large amount of room bookings that day but rest assured they will be back running at the usual time of 1pm to 5pm next week. One point to note however is that the venue next week will not be the Seminar Room. Were still not 100% sure where its going to be but well let you guys known as soon as we know. Again well have all our consoles there so pop in during your lunch or anytime during the day for a game. As usual if theres any game that we dont have that youd like to play then just bring it along and well pop it on.
Last night saw us run our first event with the Karting Society in the New Bar where we again provided some console based entertainment for those in attendance. The event kicked off at 9pm and had free wine and food as well as us some Mario Kart and Halo 2 for everyone there. Again, it was a great night and will definitely be done again, next time even bigger and better!
So thats a lot of console action I can hear you say, well not to worry as tonight sees the start of our PC Lab Gaming sessions in the Henry Grattan Building from 6pm to 10pm. Following the success of these events last year CSD have kindly given us the use of the larger C206 lab with its shiny new computers for the event. Games played will range from Counter Strike and Quake 3 to Age Of Empires II and Starcraft with some healthy doses of Trackmania and Enemy Territory thrown in for good measure. Demand is always high for these events so come early to reserve a seat for the night.
Also, we may have hinted at some of plans for this year's first Bring Your Own PC LAN event while some of you were at our stand on Clubs And Societies Day. Well as promised you guys will be getting some juicy info about our biggest event to date some time next week so stay tuned!
Anyway, keep on eye on both your mailboxes and indeed our forums at http://games.dcu.ie/forums for all the latest info on our events. Hell even if you want to stop by for a chat the forums are open 24/7 and youre bound to find some topic of interest while youre there. 
