Cinema Trip. As you have seen from our previous mail, GamesSoc are organising an outing for our members to go see WatchMen on Tuesday evening and to meet in the DCU Bar afterward for a few drinks. We only have a few places remaining so if you would be interested in going to the movies with GamesSoc for a subsidised price then email us asap at games@redbrick.dcu.ie.
Microsoft XNA Talk. Martha Rotter will be coming out to DCU at 2pm on Tuesday from Microsoft to talk on game development with XNA. Microsoft, the company behind the Xbox 360, provides a huge array of development tools for all of its platforms, and gaming is no exception to this.SO make sure you come along and show your support.
Build Your Own PC Workshop. On Tuesday at 6pm, Games Soc's own Sean Hand will be returning with his much loved tutorial on how to build your own PC, covering what parts to buy, where to get them and the now to put them all together to create the gaming machine you've always wanted. There was a great turn out last year and we hope it will be as popular this year.
MarioKart DS Tournament. Then on Wednesday at 1pm, we'll be having our Mario Kart DS tournament alongside weekly console gaming. Even if you don't have Mario Kart, you can take part through download play, or just borrow someone's DS if you don't have one yourself. We'll have plenty of prizes for the winners and tons of refreshments as always.
Demonware Talk. Eoghan Gaffney, DCU graduate and employee of Irish middleware developers Demonware will be coming in at 3pm on Wednesday to tell us about the company and the video games industry. Demonware are responsible for the networking software found in many popular games today, including the Call of Duty series.
Traditional Gaming. This Monday we we have switched location for our Traditional Gaming. We will now meet in CG20 in Henry Grattan. Even though we changed location, all the games will still be in action so we'll have plenty of Board, Card and Strategy games to suit everyone. Also we will provide Free Refreshments to all attendees so make sure you come along. We will be back to the Seminar Room upstairs in the Hub for our meeting on Wednesday evening where it will happen all over again so hope to see you there. Both evenings will be kicking off at 6pm.
Lab Gaming. 6pm, C204 in Henry Grattan. All your favourite games like, Counter-Strike:Source and 1.6, GTA2, Team Fortress 2 and many more will be there so make sure you get there on time. There is bound to be something for everyone. Hope to see you all there also.
Thats it for now and if there is any more update through out the week we'll be sure to let you all know and keep you updated. So enjoy Tech Week and hope to see you all at our events over the next few days. I especially hope to see you all at the Bar on Tuesday night.
