Was Einstein Wrong? Fundamental Science in Serious Jeopardy! That's according to hundreds of the world's leading scientists who found that some things possibly CAN travel faster than the speed of light, something which is completely disallowed in Einstein's Theory of Relativity. This latest findings were checked, double checked, triple checked before the startling results were published in a leading reputable journal. The huge science team, based in Italy, are hoping that someone can show what they have done wrong because otherwise crazy things like time travel are possible. This may sound a little complicated and most people aren't aware of the facts that lead scientists to come to these scary conclusions so, to celebrate its annual space and astronomy exhibition - Astro-Expo - Astronomy Ireland has asked one of Ireland's leading authorities in this area, Dr Cormac O'Raifeartaigh, to explain this dramatic new finding to the general public. Dr O'Raifeartaigh is a very popular public speaker gifted at explaining complex scientific issues in layman's terms. As a professional scientist working in this area he is uniquely qualified to explain what has happened, what is at stake, and what, if anything, might resolve this issue and the fate that awaits us all if no resolution can be found. Astro-Expo runs from noon until 6pm in Trinity College Dublin (SNIAM Building) on Saturday, November 19th. Dr O'Raifeartaigh's talk will be at 3pm. Admission to the exhibition is free, admission to the lectures cost 10euro (8euro member's rate) for each lecture or 18euro (15euro member's rate) for a day pass. As always, these lectures will be available for everyone in Ireland on DVD. Details of Astro-Expo and tickets to Dr O'Raifeartaigh's talk can be found at www.astronomy.ie or by calling (01) 890 11 11. <https://astro1.securesites.com/sub/astro11lectickets.htm> BOOK TICKETS <http://www.astronomy.ie/> Astronomy Ireland The world's most popular Astronomy Club <http://www.astronomy.ie/> www.astronomy.ie ( subscribe / unsubscribe <http://lists.redbrick.dcu.ie/mailman/listinfo/astronomy> )
