It is very rare that we can bring in speakers from abroad but thanks to support from the British Council you will be able to hear the UK's top amateur astronomer give his first ever lecture in Ireland: "HUNTING FOR EXPLODING STARS" by Guy Hurst past President of the British Astronomical Association, Editor of "The Astronomer" magazine, and star of Channel 4's documentary "Earth calling Basingstoke" Guy Hurst leads a team of members of the general public in the UK who use their telescopes to discover exploding stars (supernova - scene of an explosion that would vaporise our entire Sun, which is itself 1 million times the size of Earth!) in distant galaxies. So just what is a supernova, and how do you find one? We are bringing a world expert to Ireland so you can come along and find out. This is going to be a brilliant evening which will make us all realise just why we are all interested in space, Be there!
