The expected disturbance from the Sun reached Earth at 1:40am this morning (Jan. 22) causing auroral activity at high latitudes. The magnetic field was not favourable at the time but this is improving. The aurora should last 24 hours or more so an aurora could be seen from Ireland this evening after sunset. The weather forecast is not looking good but they have been significantly wrong about this in the past so do check the sky all night long. If you see anything please immediately text your name and location to 086-081 99 86 and email a short report to observe@astronomy.ie as soon as you can. P.S.
