Antrim to give the A.I. June Public Lecture in D.C.U. on Monday June 9 so we are hoping all of you reading this will make the effort to attend. JUNE PUBLIC LECTURE: "ALIENS, WHERE ARE THEY?" is an update on the Fermi Paradox. In the 1950s and 60s while working on the development of nuclear bombs, the world renowned physicist Enrico Fermi worked out how likely we were to be visited by aliens given our best ideas of how we think life got started and how often that should happen in the universe as it was known then. He concluded there should be many advanced civilisations in contact with us now. The fact that they are not gave rise to the Fermi Paradox. Terry Moseley will look at this problem using the latest knowledge about life and the universe to update the Fermi Paradox. It promises to be a fascinating evening of discovery and all are welcome so please bring a friend. OUR SPEAKER: Terry Moseley is the President of the Irish Astronomical Association. He will travel from Co. Antrim to Dublin to give this talk. Terry is well known and respected in the astronomical community not only in Ireland but abroad. He knows Patrick Moore since his time as Director of the Planetarium at Armagh in the late 1960s.
