[Astronomy Ireland] Armagh Planetarium, Wexworlds Sci-Fi Festival, Website Help
Education Programme Events Membership Shop 1. Armagh Planetarium Daytrip This Saturday Every year members of Astronomy Ireland converge on Armagh Planetarium for a very special daytrip. As well as the new show Ice Worlds we'll get a special presentation showing how the DigiStar 4 projector gives amazing recreations of the night sky (it's made by Evans & Sutherland - the same people who made high-performance jet simulators for the world's military!). Our own David Moore will lead a tour of the Astropark and Human Orrery, too! So, won't you join us for our annual daytrip to Armagh this Saturday? We'd love to see as many of you as possible, and please bring all your family and friends as it's a great day out! Alongside the planetarium show and the tour of the Astropark you will have time to explore Armagh town. This Saturday is also Armagh's Georgian Day, which will give you a special festive treat this weekend! For more information and to book your place visit www.astronomy.ie or call us on (01) 890 11 11. 2. Science Fiction, Fantasy and Astronomy at the Wexworlds Sci-Fi Festival this Friday. Do you live in the South-East? Why not go along to the Wexworlds Sci-Fi Festival this weekend! It is a fun, family-friendly and largely free event. Astronomy Ireland’s Education Programme will be running two workshops on Friday, November 25th. One in the afternoon in Wexford library for primary school children, and one in the evening at Wexford Arts Centre for the general public. Our evening talk will give people a ‘guided tour of the night sky. This event is FREE and open to everyone, and it kicks off at 7pm. For more information click HERE. 3. Website Help Astronomy Ireland's website is getting a bit old and needs to be made faster and easier to navigate, as well as have even more content. We have a new server set up and a good bit of work done on it but it's taking longer than expected so we're looking for people to help. We need volunteers (or possibly interns who might want to do something worthwhile that will have a very public face) who can help launch a new website for the society and shop. We have a good bit of it done but there are a huge number of webpages that have to be moved over and/or redesigned. There's even a bit of more technical work if you're particularly good with websites! Please email ben@astronomy.ie if you have had any experience with computers and you'd like to get involved and we'll tell you more. Can you help?
