Hi Guys, Just when you thought our sponsorship drive was coming to a *slow and grinding halt*........... I bring you..... *PHASE II* ** Here's what I mean: Phase I was targeting large companies for large figures, and to an extent that's not going to stop completely (I still plan on talking to Ulster Bank, Bank of Ireland and Bank of Scotland...cuz AIB are *dare I say it*...cunts), however Phase II will target businesses in the DCU and Dublin City Centre area for one-time opportunities and smaller sums of cash, cuz lets face it - we're not the biggest fish in the pond - and although we think we are worthy of sponsorship from Bill Gates, Donald Trump etc. corporate Ireland does not seem to agree. For one thing - the Gala night needs to be scrapped. To be honest guys, the pressure of supplying 20-30 "big wigs" for the NuBar scares the bejesus out of me due to the overwhelmingly negative response these companies have had so far. If they cant spare 5 minutes to respond to my emails (and my god have I sent ALOT) then what makes us think that they'll come to DCU for a few hours?! I feel like my efforts have been exhausted....and the sad thing is...its only OCTOBER!!!! Should the Gala go ahead - and it be a flop (which at this point in time looks highly likely) I don't know if I could take the discouragement. My job has become harder than ever before - and its time for a change. Therefore - this new and MORE EXCITING phase of Sponsorship will begin immediately. Please read the attachment and let me know what you think. The document I've attached is meant for the committee - the ones I present to businesses will be aimed at them. I can speak more at the next committee meeting. Respond to me individually with comments n' stuff. The best way to get DCU is by taking a bus from Dublin City Centre. This is where the meeting is set to be held. he even sent some maps which you'll find attached. on the subject of the meeting itself i'd like it every college made an attempt to send not one but two reps to the meeting, it's still up for discussion but i'd like it if those two reps were then the only two members of their particular society who could then sit on the council and vote on the council. in theory they needn't both attend the first meeting or indeed any meeting (as long as one of them does) but if we could get their names and contact details that'd be great. your college might want to have it's chair as it's second rep, in UCC's case they've opted for a first year rep in order to train them in to ISDA and i believe that Trinity have simply opted for 2 members of their existing commitee. it's up to your own society to decide. please note that attendance is of the highest importance to me and that while i recognise that there may be a genuinely good reason for not attending i will be proposing penalties for colleges that miss meetings without a reason at every opportunity and that includes the first meeting. i'd also like you all to note that i will be proposing some changes to the ISDA constitution and for you all to be prepared for this. some of these changes will be big and warrant discussion with your respective societies while others will be small and i expect them to be either accepted or rejected by the end of the meeting. to allow for some kind of preperation i've enclosed a copy of the constitution with the sections i believe should be changed highlighted. that would appear to be all for now, feel free to contact me either by e-mail or phone - 0877403094 - should you have any questions. and if you've any trouble getting into or around DCU Joey's number is 0857322505. Hmmm... almost 2am. Where does the time go? I'd like y'all to scan through this and see if you've any major issues. The Christmas party hasn't been finalised and the Masquerade Ball is yet to go in there but, apart from that, this is pretty much the finished product. I haven't added up the totals yet either, mainly because I'm afraid to. Mr. Cannon, can you take a look at the capital assets application. It's supposed to be in order of preference and I have no idea what we need most urgent. I copied all the quotes and explanations pretty much directly from your original grant application. Hey Dara, The following is a description of how to get to DCU: The best way to get DCU is by taking a bus from Dublin City Centre. There are a number of buses that leave from outside 'Dr Quirkey's Good Time Emporium' which is located on Upper O' Connell Street (you'll come to it if you walk up towards The Ambassador from the Liffey on the left hand side). Sorry to bother everybody... The official announce drama will be out tomorrow but due to "technical" reasons I have to post this now... We will be having a vote next Mon @ 7pm in QG15 to amend the constitution. The amendments will include: - References to the ISDA rep will be changed to the External Liaison Officer - The introduction of the Training Officer onto the committee whose tasks include: * Organizing and administration of the workshops for the general membership and the committee. * To target an encourage the non active membership of the society and develop their involvement with drama. * To encourage development within the society in any shape and form Thats it!!!
