Drama meeting: 13th Feb Present: Bob, Dave, Shane, Stephen, Eoin, Shelly, Charlene. Joey. ISDA: Website is up. 23rd February is closing date for application…All My Sons? Fiona doesn't want it on a weekday…i.e. she wants it on the weekend prior to the musical. It's do-able but the committee would like to see us bring All My Sons to Cork nevertheless. We need the rights from DLI and get our application sorted. Lottery for ISDA on the 23rd for schedules…If offered a second spot, will we put forward The Play's The Thing? We'd like to… We're not in a position to argue with ISDA…if they give us a certain date- we'll have to take it. Bob flies low… All My Sons passed to represent DCU DRAMA at this year's ISDA's. YAYNESS!! Clubs 'n' Socs Day 2: No booking of tables for part two…We bitched about Siobhan Byrne…apparently she leaves at 1pm…Bob hasn't seen her since December…Grrr. Volunteers: Chris, Alan Keegan. Atlas available to be in The Hub for 9am? Table to be set up with television, video, etc. Joey to bring television over to The Hub on the morning… Website: Wonderful photos…Broadway and All My Sons. Eoghan has a big helmet…?? St. Michael's House: Around week ten…a good amount of time to organize it. Elaine, Yvonne and Riona aswell as Shelly on board. This Semester: Fiddler on the Roof in The Gaiety…5th April…group rate. Steve to organize it…budget for 20 people but more will come, we think. Steve to enquire… War of the Worlds in The Point. Disney on Ice: March 30th- April 9th. Steve brought up the opportunity to buy tickets for Little Britain for next year's committee as a prize for Clubs 'n' Socs Day…we say: we'll wait. International Bar every Monday night: Improv Night…mentioning it in Drama e-mails, etc. A good idea: agreed. Let's look into it… DIT, Shane's mate…possible ISDA entry: 1st week of March…can we go along? It's her own script: let's bring some heads along. Shane and Steve on this… Comedy for the constitution? Hi gang, I had a quick meeting with our producers yesterday, so here's a note just to keep you guys up to speed... The scores and scripts were mailed from England yesterday, so we should have them soon enough, as Olga is eager to get her hands on them. BAND: Conor & Lennox are eager to get the ball rolling on gathering band members, as is Olga, who would like to meet with them as soon as possible. I met Andy Bass last night and introduced him to Conor. Andy is mad to play bass again for this year's show! Yay etc. Shane, are you in contact with potential future band members? Joe M, how about MusicSoc? The sooner we get cracking on this, the better. Obviously, the more student members (and therefore free) the better. But we DO need to get our asses in gear, and fast. CALLBACKS: I admitted my goof on the whole callback/announce-drama email fiasco, and have since rectified it. Double yay! The cast list should be available by friday and I will include it in the weekly announce-drama email. Can't think od anything else at the mo, so I'm outta here. Ahoy all you intrepid DramaHeads! ALL MY SONS: ...was performed on three nights last week to great critical acclaim in the Venue. Fantastic performances were turned in by the entire cast, and the audience loved it. Given that Arthur Miller plays tend not to be the happiest, it was a testament to the talent of the cast and the vision of director Fiona Colhoun that the show was so well received... Loads of stuff going on this week... MUSICAL CALLBACKS: First off, well done to all those who came over to the auditions for this year's musical, "Guys and Dolls." The turnout was massive! Unfortunately, not all of those who tried out were successful in getting a callback. We would love to put all of you in the show, but that would necessitate a stage the size of Texas. Those of you who got a callback have already been informed via email. Those of you that did not, I'm sorry :( Callbacks will be held on Wednesday (15th) evening at 6.00pm in XG14. Good luck! THE MERCHANT OF VENICE: Ha! Just when you thought that you were safe from another DCU Drama production, we come out with a little Shakespeare! The Merchant of Venice will run during week 3 from Monday 20th - Thursday 23rd at 7.00pm in the Space, the Helix, with matinees at 2pm on Tuesday and Wednesday. Tickets are a bargain bin price of 5 euro for DCU Drama members and 7 euro for anybody else. After the runaway success of our production of Macbeth last year, "Merchant" promises to continue DCU Drama's budding infatuation with the great Bard of Avon. Don't miss it! Watch out for our ticket stand in the HUB this week! Speaking of ticket stands, we need volunteers to man the aforementioned ticket stands, and to help out with promotional duties during next week. We'll be setting up our recruitment stand in the Venue on WEDNESDAY 15th and need a selection of rabid volunteers to come and help sign up the last few students in DCU who haven't already joined Drama. Drop me a line at chair(a)dcudrama.ie to lend a hand... WORKSHOPS: Bob will be holding an informal VOCAL PROJECTION AND DICTION workshop in the Space, the Helix at 1pm on Sunday the 19th. While this is primarily for the cast members of The Merchant of Venice, all who are interested are welcome to attend. Cost: FREE. This workshop will be invaluable to any budding actor - projection and diction are the two most important attributes you can have. You can know your lines backwards and have great presence and movement, but if no-one can hear you / understand what you're saying, you're outta luck. Another similar and larger workshop will be held in week 6 by our friends from the Gaiety School of Acting, prior to the Musical. Watch this space... We will also be holding a MAKEUP workshop in the next few weeks, again prior to the musical. One of our members, Liana, has kindly agreed to offer a quick course in stage makeup for anyone that is interested. Once more, watch this space! RedBrick Tech Week is coming, and because DCU Drama love getting into bed with RedBrick, we will be jointly offering LIGHTING and SOUND workshops for any budding techies out there. For DIT's situation which is that you won't know on this date which plays you will be submitting, we'll need to know how many slots you'd hope to have anyway, this is the only exception that we're giving though. i hope this change of 5 days doesn't trouble any of you to much and i'm sorry for taking so long to realise this basic problem.
