I don't want to start another "flamewar" (I've gotten quite good at that) but... I really liked it. Been reading a lot of stuff on mythology recently and I could really get what Ang Lee was trying to do - the whole Father and Son (like Icarus and Daeldus), the Hero's Journey (in particular "The Atonement of the Father" and "Apothesis" were wonderful), the symbolism of hulk as one of the ancient greek Titans (the image of the hulk heaving the gamma machine on his shoulders) and the final climax was a wonderful take on the battle of Gods and the corresponding theme of Son versus Father. I guess it's not a normal superhero movie... Other then that it had great visuals that made it feel like the comic book like no other recent marvel movie. I admit the acting was terrible - it felt like Nick Nolte was the only one trying and some of the human interest side of the drama was too long but once the Hulk was let loose it was great. The comicbook look of the Hulk as I saw it in the trailers I thought was going to take from it but in fact it didn't - sadly though the Hulk was just not as terrifying as he should have been. Anyway that's my 8 euros worth! :) M ----- Original Message ----- From: "StArFiSh" <starfish@Redbrick.DCU.IE> To: <movietime@lists.redbrick.dcu.ie> Sent: Saturday, July 19, 2003 3:34 PM Subject: Re: [Movietime] The Hulk
Ok. Now that some people have seen it...
Did anyone else think it was the worst rubbish ever? I actually fell asleep in the middle of it!
