Hey guys!
First off, the committee here would like to welcome both new and old
members
to this new year of Gamessoc. We hope that you guys wont be afraid to
jump
straight into all of our events, and we hope that you enjoy yourselves.
|| Gamessoc and Redbrick Freshers Ball ||
Tomorrow, on the 3rd of October, we will be hosting our Freshers Ball,
in conjunction with Redbrick, in Matt Wheldons (aka The Slipper).
The event will be kicking off at 7pm, so you should definitely come
along and get to know some of the other members.
The Slipper is located literally across the road from DCU campus main
entrance. If you leave The Hub from the side with the nuBar, just
follow the road off of campus and you'll find it with no hassle.
This will be the last event we are running for this week, but you can
expect a new email filled with exciting events for you to partake in
this
weekend, so make sure you keep your eyes open.
If you have any problems, or queries, that you'd like to talk to us
about,
please feel free to email us at games(a)redbrick.dcu.ie and we'll get
back
to you with a helping Hand as soon as possible.
See you there,
-Mark Gorman
The current mailing list for GamesSoc will be purged tomorrow, meaning that
anyone who doesn't re-sign up for GamesSoc, either at clubs and socs day,
or later in the year will no longer receive emails from us. So make sure to
come along and stick your sign back up so you can know where and when the
events are.
If any associates wish to remain so, but can't make it in tomorrow, please
get in contact with us at games(a)redbrick.dcu.ie and we can sort something
out.
Also due to an apparent overbooking issue, Consoles may have to be moved to
another room. Hopefully we can still have it in XG14, but we will have
someone standing around XG14 to tell people where to go if we have to move.
Regards,
Mark
Hey everyone and welcome back to another year of GamesSoc! Here's a quick
overview of what you can expect this week.
|| Traditional Gaming: 6pm-10pm, XG01 Mondays & Wednesdays ||
|| Cinema Trip - Tuesday ||
|| Clubs & Socs Day - Tuesday/Wednesday ||
|| Console Gaming: 2pm-6pm, XG14 Wednesday ||
|| Thursday - Redbrick/GamesSoc Freshers Ball ||
So let's jump straight into it!
|| Traditional Gaming ||
This week we will be running two Traditional Gaming events, one on Monday
and the second on Wednesday after Consoles. Both of these events will be
running for 4 hour periods starting from 6pm. Traditional Gaming will be
held in XG01 on both days.
|| Cinema Trip ||
This Tuesday, GamesSoc will be heading to the Omniplex cinema in Santry to
see the new gaming spin-off film, Resident Evil: Retribution. We will be
meeting up in the hub at about 6pm, and will then head on over. If you'd
prefer to meet us there either, that's fine. The film will be starting at
7:05pm and the approximate cost will be €7.70. The film is in 3D as well,
so either bring extra money to buy glasses, or bring your own.
|| Clubs and Socs Day ||
This Tuesday and Wednesday is Clubs and Socs day in the Hub so make sure
you come along and sign up again for the most active society in DCU. We
will be set up in the Venue, down the stairs next to the nuBar and right at
the back near the corner. It's 4 euro to sign up for the year so make sure
to pop in during the two days. As an aside, Consoles will be running on the
wednesday, so after signing up, make sure to pop on over to XG14 to check
out what's going on! Also, if you haven't, make sure to come to our
website: http://www.games.dcu.ie/
|| Console Gaming ||
Consoles will be held this week on Wednesday from 2pm - 6pm in XG14. We
will have a bunch of consoles set up so come along and play your favourite
games!
|| Redbrick/GamesSoc Freshers Ball ||
This Thursday GamesSoc will be holding a Freshers Ball in conjunction with
Redbrick to welcome both old and new members back. It'll be held in Matt
Wheldons (The slipper) located just outside campus, and will start at 7pm.
We should be able to organise platters of food, and maybe even some drink
specials, so make sure to come along! We have set up a Facebook event as
well for easier management. https://www.facebook.com/events/276440109142022/
If you have any questions about anything in this email, feel free to email
Committee at games(a)rebrick.dcu.ie .
That's it for us this week. Hope to see you at some (or all) of these
events!

Hey everybody,
I have one important announce for next week that I need to tell you all
about.
- EGM | Wednesday 6pm | C166 -
Due to an error in voting at the AGM last Monday two of the elections
that were made have been nulled. The reason for this is that in our
constitution it states that an position can only be obtained if the
amount of votes on one person is greater than half the number of votes
available. The positions that were nulled were Secretary and
Chairperson. To remedy this we'll be holding a EGM on Wednesday at 6pm
in C166. This will take almost no time to vote on the positions again so
we can get back to traditional gaming and pizza. I ask that if you want
to run for either Chariperson or Secretary to please email us back.
Yours Deliciously
Oisin Kelly
