An Update for this Wednesday We have our talk from 2-3pm by Ciaran O'Riordan on "GNU/Linux & the new battles of the Free Software movement". For more details on that http://www.redbrick.dcu.ie/ After the decision to open this talk to intersocs, we have decided to add 2 more speakers to our bill, both of whom are members of our very own RedBrick. First up we have Colm MacCarthaigh (Colmmacc) giving us a talk on "RedBrick and IPv6" from 3-4pm. This is then followed by a presentation by David Johnston(Emperor) on "Digital Video Backup" from 4-4.45pm. We will then be heading into town to Doyles at about 6.45pm from the hub and you are more than welcome to join. For anyone who wishes to join us there rather than travel in with us: Doyles is located on the corner where D'olier st. meets Fleet st. Entry into all talks is free, so we hope to see you all there. Helpdesk Tutorials

Hey ya, Just to let you know the Helpdesk tutorials are starting back up this week. They will be held in LG25 of the computing building at 7pm. This week we shall be showing people how to use PHP, followed by postgres/mysql databases next week (2nd March) and putting them all together on the 9th of March. Hi everyone, This year's Alt Rag Ball will take place in the Isaac Butt on Store Street. Homegrown talent is the theme of this year's Alt Rag Ball with our very own MC Dice performing The Eminem Show, and an up and coming DCU band Wolfhead (www.redbrick.dcu.ie/~wolfhead) playing a set for us. We have a DJ lined up to keep the crowd entertained for the rest of the night, so here's the details.. Hi everyone, Just a quick about our tutorial in week 10. It will be a Java Tutorial for first years (mainly CA1s, MS1s, FM1s) on 2/12 in LG25 @7pm. The tutorial will be focusing on preparation for the 2nd CA165 lab exam which will take place on Thursday Week 11. All are welcome especially people who is doing CA165 module. Hello all, Just a reminder about this weeks helpdesk tutorial. We'll finishing off "basic html" from last week, taking a quick look at tables. Then we'll be doing some quick demo's of programs for creating HTML other than just old notepad and also a quick re-cap of how to get your files onto redbrick. The tutorial is @ 7pm in LG25 of the Computer Applications building on Tuesday November 10th. As always, all are welcome and as always there'll be a few of us heading to the bar afterwards for pints.
