Hey all I know the people getting nominated will be expected to submit a cv of their involvement in events for the year to the drama committee but it is usually up to the rest of the committee to put them forward, they cant nominate themselves! It will be good to say what else you had going on while you were doing society stuff so they know just how much you juggled to get stuff done. Secondly, I'll get cracking on best event (I really want us to win this to be brutally honest) We're going to have a whole folder to submit to them on it, the form will be stuck in inside the front page ;)

hey, firstly, jsut to double check, we've all decided on the following nominees- Best society- yay. Best event - Musical Best Fresher - Christopher Carroll Best Poster- Musical one- not bus stop one, but boobs one! Best individual - Rìona the Judge Mc Cormack! So chris and riona to log onto SPC website and apply before friday k? minutes were only as follows (coz i'd to leave early again!) Absent: Paul Matters arising - nominees decided. Daniel's resignation from the committee. ISDA- equipment such as wood pieces and radiator etc had to be sacrificed and left in galway. not expensive though. Venue- Mike someone is coming in this week to review the venue, to hang curtains and to possibly adjust where feasible... DIT intervarsities - option to host in the Space next year Lovers: To hold in The Space, along with other two plays- make a week out of it?

ISDA "Large problems with the ISDA application today. It's become not only a drama issue but an SPC one. Budgets have been too late, too skimpy and too vague, and it's not our money to be irresponsible with." "This event is costing us approx 20,000 EUR - That's the second largest society event this year and the largest society-run event." 338 euro vs 20,000 euro and I have to stay in Galway all week spending my own money to ensure that the stuff gets back to Dublin for free (instead of just getting the cash to hire a van) for fear of incurring the wrath of people who contradict themselves left, right and centre.

hey guys, im interested in doing a small arty play called 'The Shape of things' by an american playwright Neil La Bute. i've seen it twice, once professional and once by amateur studnets....its very minimal in that it requires next to nthng in set, props, and only 4 actors, 2 guys and 2 grls...its a very contemporary, american play and deals with how the line between art and life can blur. im interested in producing and directing but i need a little help..maybe an asistant director...also whts the deal with licencing etc? and where can i get my hands on a script...might need to make a few adjustments. let me knw if u can help, it'd be very much appreciated. thanks arsheen ps: chris said he'd help out organising it, but i still need an assistant who's been in drama soc and knws his way abt dcu drama world!

[Drama-committee] Meeting

I'm devestated at having missed such an entertaining meeting on Monday. I have tutorials 3-5 today and can potentially make a meeting before or after these - the busier members who are calling the meeting may text me with a time and I'll try to get along. Can someone send me (or bring to the meeting) a number for Marie-Louise O'Donnell at the Helix please. I'd suggest each committee member who feels they have the time take an allocation of tickets and make it known to all and sundry that they're selling them - maybe include in the barrage of mails next week that anyone with a dcu drama t-shirt will be selling tickets as well as those in the hub: bring the sale to the customers. Logistically it's not ideal, but I've had results with it before - it's worth a shot. I'm on top of the developments with 'Lovers', Deirdre Jones' play, and am just about to digest Conor Farrel's script. This is it, I'll try to meet them all by Monday's meeting. Gal-the-way to success at ISDA. I have the recorded critique - it would be cool to do up a transcript but it's not an immediate priority. Bench the volume up to the max if you want to make out what's being said; I can make it all out anyway, so it'll suffice. Christopher Samuel Carroll

Hi all Just a few issues to flag with you all, which indicate that we need to have at least an informal committee meeting this week: Musical - There are a few final decisions to be made about the musical, and these must be committee decisions. I also have an overall point to raise about the musical and committee involvement. This event is costing us approx 20,000 EUR - That's the second largest society event this year and the largest society-run event. The only way we can be sure of being safe in dealing with this amount of money is if we all pull together. Two people do not make a musical happen, and I can't help but get the sense that Elaine and I seem to be responsible for everything. This is not the role of the producer. I cannot stress enough that for the next ten days EVERY SINGLE committee member must work their asses off to sell those tickets, and that includes people with parts in the musical. You are committee members first and foremost, and the musical is the one event in the year that everyone should be working on. I'm not comfortable dealing with this event the way it has gone so far, there has to be a greater sense of committment from everyone. BICS - There is still an on-going discussion within the SPC as to whether a Best Society will be put forward to BICS this year. If we want to appeal this, it has to be done quickly. Also, the C&S awards nominations need to be in by next week, and the forms are complicated enough so we need to get our nominations for everythign decided - Best individual, best poster, best Fresher, best event, etc. Budgets - Large problems with the ISDA application today. Hello my valiant, tempestuous committee I know the production team for the musical are up to their bleedin ears, but...could one of you write a sexy blurb for the musical so I can put it on the site? I wnat to put the poster up, and I'd like to have some text to go along with it. Like the blurb for antigone, someone, I'd write it, but I think somebody more familiar with the plot and characters would do a better job at it. Anyway, let me know who's doing it and I'll take it from there. My things to do: (1) Harass my dad for sponsorship (2) Ehh....theatre trip...at some stage (3) Anything else? Paul
