Hey everyone!
Waka waka waka waka waka waka... (Or do a Shakira on it, I'm torn to be
honest.)
Here's what is happening this week!
- Console Gaming
- Trad Gaming
- Game Development Meetup
- Humans Vs Zombies
- King of GamesSoc
- Retro Gaming
- - Console Gaming - -
Consoles gaming will be on as always this week from 1pm to 5pm on
Wednesday is XG16. We'll have the normal consoles set up, so you can
go and play games and stuff. (Can you tell I don't go to consoles?)
- - Trad Gaming - -
We will have traditional and tabletop training running only on
Wednesday this week from 5pm to 10pm. The bank holiday swallowed
Monday's session - but a three day weekend was worth it, right? Come
along and play an assortment of games, like Bang, Family Business and
all that jazz.
- - Game Development Meetup - -
Last weeks meetup went well, so we'll be meeting up again this Tuesday
(tomorrow) from 6pm onwards again. Even if you missed last week's
meetup
you can still come along this week! Room will be confirmed tomorrow
once
bookings get back to us.
- - Humans Vs Zombies - -
Humans Vs Zombies will be returning to campus this year! Get your
socks and nerf guns ready to fight the zombie plague. We'll be holding
it as a weeklong event during week 8, and will set up the website for
signups over the coming week. For our new members, Human Vs Zombies is
a campus wide game that begins with some Original Zombies, who then
infect humans. Zombies must feed, or they will starve, and humans must
try to stay alive.
Have a look at the rules here http://games.dcu.ie/hvz/rules.php
- - King of GamesSoc - -
King of GamesSoc is returning this year! For the new members, this is
a competition for members of the society to fight out for the place of
king. You win trophies by winning tournaments, as well as
participating in random quests. Last year we crowned Cormac Clare as
our king, however Evin McMahon claimed the first trophy by winning the
first tournament. Who will be your king this year?
- - Retro Gaming - -
Retro gaming returns as well as everything else this year. We'll be
setting up in the NuBar on Thursday evening with the televisions and
some retro gaming consoles and running tournaments. Tournaments will
depend on what hardware we can get our hands on, however we hope to
hold a Crash Team Racing, Golden Axe duel mode, and Super Mario Bros
battle mode tournaments. Come along to try and win some drinks
vouchers, we'll be there from 6pm onwards down on the dance floor!
We'll also be holding a Pacman tournament. Waka waka waka...

Hey everyone!
Welcome back to another year of college and gaming related adventures!
We're all looking forward to the year ahead, and while it's only
fresher's week we still have some of our events on.
Here's what's going on with GamesSoc:
- Trad Gaming
- Console Gaming
- - Trad Gaming - -
Trad gaming will be running twice this week, the same as last year. On
Monday and Wednesday, it will be running from 6pm to 10pm in XG01.
Come along to catch up with people after the summer break and play
some games and stuff.
- - Console Gaming - -
Consoles will also be running this Wednesday. We'll be setting up the
usual consoles and games in XG16 from 2pm to 5pm. The shorter time is
due to the time period we can access the Helix basement. However we
can still have some button mashing fun, and shout obscenities at each
other (just like old times...)!
We're working on getting PC Gaming running again, however it may take
some time to get everything sorted out.
Looking forward to seeing you soon!
Tríona Barrow
GamesSoc Secretary 2014/15
Hey guys,
For everyone who is currently on the list for Qcon, we would like a
twenty euro deposit from you guys.As per the last announce, we want
you to get this in by this Friday to either Freddie or Kilian so we
can finalise the bookings. However, if you do want to pay the full
amount (twenty three for two nights, or forty seven for three nights)
we won't say no!
We will also be organising transport up to Belfast for Qcon, and we
will have a return bus also for those staying three nights. This will
be extra, but once we've confirmed the list we'll be able to book it
and give a proper cost.
Good luck in exams!

- - King of GamesSoc Closing Event - -
We will be holding our closing event on Wednesday from 2pm to 8pm in

random trophy drops in order to keep the end result all up in the air.
If enough people bring their laptops, we'll also run some PC
tournaments! A ridiculous amount of pizza will be provided on the
night, and we'll finally know who wins the crown. So who's going to be
your king this year?

We'll be holding it on the Thursday from 7pm onwards. Be sure to get
down to the NuBar early to grab a seat. It's three euro per head, or
