Hey everyone!
Gah, where did semester two go?! Despite the time travelling wizardry
that means the semester is nearly over, we have buckets of events and
things to do.
Here's what is happening in GamesSoc:
- Trad Gaming
- Console Gaming: Soul Calibur Tournament
- PC Gaming
- Minecraft Server Whitelist
- Annual Table Quiz
- King of GamesSoc Closing Event
- - Trad Gaming - -
Trad gaming will be as always on twice this week, on both Monday and
Wednesday from 6pm to 10pm in XG01! One of our trad officers, Fionn,
will hopefully be running a game of Fiasco during Monday's session
also, so if you're interested in roleplay be sure to tag along! If
not, tag along anyway?
- - Console Gaming - -
This week Console gaming is in XG14 from 2pm to 6pm, and they're
holding a tournament in one of the best games ever, Soul Calibur.
Entry fee is two euro as always, and we'll be taking sign ups until
the tournament starts at 3pm. You think I could lose to the likes of
you? If you don't feel like playing it (apparently that's a thing) we
will have the usual other consoles and games there too.
- - PC Gaming - -
PC gaming will be on in C204 on both Tuesday and Thursday from 6pm to
10pm. Come along to mash a keyboard to the game of your choice, such
as Civ 5, Typing of the Dead, AoE2, and many more!
- - Minecraft Server Whitelist - -
Due to repeated issues with griefing and looting on the Minecraft
server, a whitelist has been set up. In order to join the whitelist,
you must be a paid member of GamesSoc and must request to be added.
Want to get in on it? Email us, or talk directly to our PC Events
Officers Rob or Padraig.
- - Annual Table Quiz - -
QUIZ QUIZ QUIZ QUIZ! Ahem. I mean, during week eleven we will be
holding our annual table quiz! We'll be holding it on the Thursday
(24th of April) from 7pm onwards. Be sure to get down to the NuBar
early to grab a seat. It's three euro per head, or twelve euro for a
team, and you have a chance to win some fabulous prizes!
1st Prize: Assortment of Games (PS3, Xbox 360, PC and Wii)
2nd Prize: Assortment of Trad Games
3rd Prize: Sweets
We'll also have a raffle running on the night, with an awesome prize,
but we'll tell you more about that in next weeks announce...
- - King of GamesSoc Closing Event - -
So after a year of giving out trophies and all of that, we must crown
our king! So of course, we're going to do it in style. During week
eleven we will be holding this on Wednesday (23rd of April) from 2pm
to 8pm in the Old Bar. This of course is a good chance to scope out a
team for our quiz the following day, and try to knock people off the
top of the leaderboard. Currently the leaderboard stands as follows:
1. Guy Sensei (Cormac) and skirmisher (Daire) with 7 trophies
3. esports (Evin) with 5 trophies
4. Zedheaded (Ed) with 4 trophies
We're going to hold trad and console tournaments, as well as having
random trophy drops in order to keep the end result all up in the air.
If enough people bring their laptops, we'll also run some PC
tournaments! Pizza will be provided on the night, and we'll finally
know who wins the crown!
That's all for this week!

Hey everyone!
So apparently putting "Fatality" as the topic puts people on edge, so
we'll give your heart a rest this week! Week nine is underway this
week, but it's business as usual over here.
Here's what is going on in GamesSoc:
- Trad Gaming
- Console Gaming
- PC Gaming
- King of GamesSoc Event
- Annual Table Quiz
- Vaticon
- - Trad Gaming - -
Trad gaming in on as always twice this week, on Monday and Wednesday,
both from 6pm to 10pm in XG01. Come along to play some games and chill
out, such as Family Business, Loveletter, and more!
- - Console Gaming - -
Console gaming is running from 2pm to 6pm in XG14 this week! Come
along to get some button mashing therapy from those assignments and
exams. We'll have the regular consoles out with all of the favourites.
- - PC Gaming - -
PC Gaming will be on in C204 from 6pm to 10pm on both Tuesday and
Thursday this week. Come along to stress out both our incoming and
outgoing PC Events Officers, while shooting 'em up or playing virtual
cards.
- - King of GamesSoc Event - -
So as the year is winding down, it's getting closer to us announcing
this year's King of GamesSoc! So of course we have to hold an awesome
event to celebrate. Think you know who's going to win? Think again,
we'll be giving out loads of trophies at the closing event to shake
things up! More details to follow.
- - Annual Table Quiz - -
It's that time of year again, where the committee will make you
scratch your heads in exchange for lovely prizes! More details to
follow, but mark down the 24th of April in your diaries.
- - Vaticon - -
Vaticon is on this weekend in UCD (11th to 13th April)! Weekend
tickets are only a fiver, and there will be LARPs, RPGs, CCGs,
Pathfinder, tabletop, wargaming and videogames all on offer.
Even better you can get the 11 from outside DCU right there too.

Hey everyone!
It's week eight already, which means that semester two is stepping
into hardcore mode for most of us! Don't worry though, you can still
set your spawn to GamesSoc in order to recharge your health and mana,
Here's what is going on this week:
- Trad Gaming
- Console Gaming: Mortal Kombat Tournament!
- PC Gaming
- - Trad Gaming - -
Trad gaming in on as always twice this week, on Monday and Wednesday,
both from 6pm to 10pm in XG01. During Monday's session our first year
representative, Milena, will be running a small Dominion tournament.
Not your style? Come along anyway to play some Bang!, catch some
Werewolves, or even TransAmerica.
- - Console Gaming - -
Console gaming is running from 2pm to 6pm in XG14 this week! We had
some technical difficulties last week, which meant our Mortal Kombat
tournament couldn't go ahead. That's ok though, because we're holding
it this week instead! Signups cost two euro a head, an the tournament
should start around 3pm. So, what should we do besides standing around
looking pretty?
- - PC Gaming - -
PC Gaming, everyone's favourite weekly event, will be on in C204 from
6pm to 10pm on both Tuesday and Thursday this week. Come shoot zombies
and build with virtual Lego for a few hours. Our new PC events
officer, Rob, will also be arranging a Minecraft trophy for Tuesday
night, and a Hearthstone trophy for Thursday night!
That's all for this week!

extensive catalogue. So, come along to play new games and have fun and
stuff.
