Hey everybody,
We're getting closer to the highly anticipated release of Dance Central
2! Also the greatest Batman game ever made is coming out. I guess that's
good too.
Anyway here's what's on this week:
- Casual Gaming | Monday 6-10pm | Henry Grattan, C165 -
- Gears of War 3 Tournament @ Console Gaming | Wednesday 2-6pm | The
Hub, Old Bar -
- Traditional Gaming | Wednesday 6-10pm | Science Building, XG15 -
- PC Gaming | Not on this week -
- Clyde Night | Friday 8pm -
But first a piece on a Zombies Vs Humans game for zombie week.
Zombies Vs Humans is a campus wide game where students fend off a
increasing hoard of zombies for the week. It'll take place on campus and
will be completely free to play. It'll begin on Monday 24th where we'll
be handing out the equipment you'll need and running over some basic
rules. Main item you'll need is a weapon, that's either some form of
Nerf gun or even balled up socks for defense against the hoard. I'll be
sending out a more detailed email on rules later this week. If you're
interested in playing just email us back.
- Casual Gaming | Monday 6-10pm | Henry Grattan, C165 -
This Monday at traditional gaming we'll be playing some of our more
social games such as Cranium, Apples to Apples, Monopoly and maybe even
a bit of Werewolves too. All are welcome to come along as always,
especially our new members and freshers. If these games don't suit you
then don't worry, well still be bringing along the classics like Risk,
Paranoia and San Juan. See you there at 6pm in C165.
- Gears of War 3 Tournament @ Console Gaming | Wednesday 2-6pm | The
Hub, Old Bar -
We'll be running a Gears of War 3 tournament on Wednesday. These will
be 2v2 wingman matches. You can sign up as pairs if you and a friend
want to try or you can sign up solo and we'll pair you up. The entry is
€4 per person and there'll be prizes for the winners. Sign ups start at
2pm and the tournament begins at 3pm.
Of course if you're not interested in the tournament we'll still have
some consoles set up on the day.
- Traditional Gaming | Wednesday 6-10pm | Science Building, XG15 -
If anybody has any requests for what games to bring this week post up
what you'd like to see on the forum topic here:
http://games.dcu.ie/forums/index.php?topic=2041.450
We have a list of our games here at boardgame geek:
http://boardgamegeek.com/collection/user/DCUgamessoc
- PC Gaming | Not on this week -
Sorry. We're still waiting on the ISS to get the lab PCs imaged.
- Clyde Night | Friday 8pm -
Hop onto our teamspeak server at clyde.redbrick.dcu.ie and steam on
Friday night and we'll be having a few matches of whatever people want
to play. Our steam group is here if you want to be notified when clyde
night starts http://steamcommunity.com/groups/gamessoc
That's all for this week, I'm off to to fling orcs into acid.

Hey Folks,
Here's to a new week of brand new games and the steady decline of my
bank account funds.
Here's the rundown this week:
- Traditional Gaming | Monday 6-10pm | Henry Grattan, C165 -
- Clyde Night | Tuesday 8pm | Steam, Teamspeak -
- Console Gaming | Wednesday 2-6pm | The Hub, Old Bar -
- Pathfinder Pitfighting | Wednesday 6-10pm | Science Building, XG15 -
- PC Gaming | Not on this week -
- Traditional Gaming | Monday 6-10pm | Henry Grattan, C165 -
We'll be in room C165 in the Henry Grattan building from 6-10pm for
traditional gaming. Here we play games like San Juan, Risk, Paranoia and
Pit.
Of course that's not all we have. We have a huge list of games here:
http://boardgamegeek.com/collection/user/DCUgamessoc
If you have any suggestions on what to bring just post here:
http://games.dcu.ie/forums/index.php?topic=2041.450
- Clyde Night | Tuesday 8pm -
For those who don't know what Clyde night is it's where we all meet up
online and play a few PC games. We have a Teamspeak server where we
usually meet up for this. The Teamspeak hostname is
clyde.redbrick.dcu.ie.
We will also be on steam using our steam group so if you haven't signed
up yet to the group I suggest you do so now here:
http://steamcommunity.com/groups/gamessoc
- Console Gaming | Wednesday 2-6pm | The Hub, Old Bar -
Console gaming's on in the Hub in the Old Bar. That's the large room
directly across from the Venue. It's on from 2-6pm. We'll have 2 Wiis, 2
PS3s and 2 360s set up so there will be something for everyone. We have
a large selection of games like Smash Bros, Gears of War 3, Bomberman
and we just got a copy of FIFA 12 this week so there's a lot to play.
If you've got a PSP or DS bring them too. We usually have a few games
of Tetris DS, Mario Kart and take on a few missions in Metal Gear:
Peacewalker and Monster Hunter.
- Pathfinder Pitfighting | Science Building, XG15 | Wednesday 6-10pm -
Just a quick note that while Pitfighting is on Wednesday we'll still
have a normal Traditional gaming night on also in the same room.
You may be wondering what exactly is pit fighting. Think of it as the
survival mode of an RPG where we take all that distracting story and
plot and side quest and chuck it in a skip somewhere and focus on
combat. So you fight against monsters until you fight till you are the
last player standing and then... you fight more until everyone is dead.
No experience is needed so if you have ever wanted to give a tabletop
RPG a shot now is your chance. Characters will be provided on the day
but if by any chance you are familiar with the pathfinder role playing
system feel free to bring your own 3rd level character. You can use any
class/race from the core rule book only no advance players guide or
alternate classes allowed.
- PC Gaming -
I apologise yet again that PC Gaming will not be on this week. You may
strike me with paddles for this insult.
That's all this week hope you have a great time while I slowly punish
myself playing Dark Souls.
