Apologies for the late notice but organising this event took some time as it was outside of the academic year.
Games Soc will be running our first Bring Your Own PC (byopc for short) LAN of the year nice and early, before the new Semester even starts!
We'll be in the Hub from 12pm Saturday to 12pm Sunday playing games for a full 24 hours and due to the late notice, entry will be completely free! So bring your PC to DCU this weekend and join in!
What you need to bring:
- Your PC and peripherals, monitor, keyboard, headset etc.
- A 4 way socket adaptor to accommodate your pc and whatever else needs to be plugged in.
- Lots of caffeine drinks to keep you awake and energetic and whatever other food or drink you require. :)
We'll also be sending out for Pizza at some point during the night too!
You can sign up right away now at our byopc website, located at http://www.redbrick.dcu.ie/~gamessoc/byopc
Hope to see you at the event, if not then I hope your results went well over the Summer and we'll be seeing you all soon for the next year of college in DCU :)

Hey guys,
No console gaming on today due to Union Council, so Lab Gaming tomorrow at 6pm in C204 will be our last event of the Semester. All the usual games will be there, but if anyone's interested, we might try to get some Dungeon Keeper going too.
Hope to see you there,

Hey all,
Our lovely website, (located at http://games.dcu.ie for those of you haven't been paying attention) was recently awarded the title of Best Website at the DCU Clubs and Socs Awards! The site was designed by our lovely PRO, Graham Bishop, and looked after by our excellent Webmaster, John Doyle. We'd also like to thank all the members who contribute to our forums, making it the most active site in the college.
Console Gaming this week will be at the usual time of 2pm in the Seminar Room on Wednesday, while Lab Gaming will run in C204 at 6pm on Thursday.
Bye!

Hey guys,
- Halo 2 Team Tournament
- Interlan 3.0 update
- Lab Gaming
- Simon Kilroy for Pres!
This Wednesday from 2pm we'll be running our Halo 2 Team Tournament in the Seminar Room. We'll be having a few free for all rounds at the start to determine the teams and then we'll get started. Entry is free for all members and the place was packed during last year's one, so we hope to see guys there. We'll have plenty of food and stuff and if you have any spare pads or or consoles bring them along too.
We have some great news to announce regarding Interlan 3.0. We're getting sponsorship from MemoryC, which means that there's now a GeForce 8800 GTX card up for grabs for the best player overall. They're also giving us some MP3 players and hard drives for spot prizes, so there's a great chance that you'll win stuff just by turning up.
For more info check out: http://interlan.dcu.ie
Lab Gaming as usual is on from 6pm in C204
I'm sure you've all seen the Simon Kilroy posters around the college (I even saw one in the toilets earlier, it was kinda weird...). Yes, the esteemed Chairperson of the DCU Games Society, Mr. Simon Kilroy, is running for the position of Students' Union President! So... vote for him! We <3 Simon!
Anyway... come to our events and stuff.

Evenin' folks,
Registration is now open for InterLAN 3.0! Taking place in the Hub in DCU, and aimed at both console and PC gamers, this is going to be our biggest event of the year. InterLAN, as you may have guessed from the name, is an Intervarsity LAN gaming event, which basically means that people from every college in Ireland can come together to play games and find out which college is the best (it's DCU). DCU won several competitions at the last one, so we'll be hoping to repeat that success now that it's taking place on our own turf. We'll also have the Xbox Live Centre out with lots of flatscreen TV's and Xbox 360s for you to play.
Of course, it isn't just for those hoping to play in the tournaments, the lan is open to everyone, so you can come and play whatever games you want, or just... make use of the dedicated file server. :)
The competition games will be as follows:
-- PC --
Counter Strike 1.6
Counter Strike Source
Unreal Tournament 2004
Dawn of War
-- Console --
Gears of War
Halo 2
Project Gotham Racing 3
Dead or Alive 4
InterLAN 3.0 takes place in the Hub on April 7th and 8th. Doors open at 12pm and it finishes at 2pm the next day. Entry is 15 euro. It promises to be a truly great event, so we hope to see you all there.

-------------------------------
As for this week's events...
Console Gaming will be running at 3pm in the Seminar Room, but this week we hope to get a Mario Kart DS tournament going. Possibly the best Mario Kart game ever, it has the added bonus that you don't even need ta copy of the game to play it with your friends, just a DS. Even if you don't own a DS someone can give you a loan, so hopefully we can get a tournament going. Normal consoles will also be out too.
Lab Gaming as usual runs from 6pm in C204.
Enjoy your "Reading Week". If you're a business student, or one of those other groups that aren't in this week, know that I hate you. :)

Secretary, DCU Games Society

Hey all,
Sorry about the late notice, but we've had to reschedule the two talks this afternoon.
The Havok talk will now be starting at 2pm, while the talk from Sean Blanchfield of Demonware will now take place at 3pm. Both of these will still be in the Seminar Room in the Hub and Console gaming will follow afterwards.
We'd also like to inform you all that Games Soc Chairperson Simon Kilroy will be taking part in the Bebo/Social Networking debate tonight at 6.30 in QG15, so come along and heckle him or something. There'll be free food and drink, too.
