Hey folks,
First of all on behalf of the entire committee I want to make sure you
guys are all having a great summer. Needless to say we're still busy
behind the scenes organising our events for the upcoming year and believe
me when I tell you, they're going to be bigger and better than ever.
Anyway first things first, I'd like to finally announce the availability
of the Games Soc hoodies which, as some of you may know, we've been
talking about for quite some time.
Firstly, there are going to be two different designs available in two
different colours so you'll have plenty of choices if you choose to
purchase one. Images and pricing can be found on our forums here ->
http://games.redbrick.dcu.ie/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=1&t=1269
Orders will be taken in a few weeks but we're announcing it now to give
you guys and gals plenty of time to get your orders in. The first batch
will be purchased on a pre-order basis given that we want to have them for
the start of the new semester. As such we'll be taking orders either in
cash or through payment into our account, details of which can be found
off the main page, if that suits better. If you're living in Dublin then
we can arrange to get your hoodie to you when they arrive otherwise we'll
hold them until the Semester starts and you can collect them whenever you
are back in college.
Note, any subsequent orders will only be made once the minimum order with
the printing company has been reached so if you really want one we suggest
you get one in the initial batch.
We think they look great and we've made sure that we got the best possible
deal for you guys so hopefully we'll be seeing lots of these guys around
campus in the coming year. :)
In other news, we've finally gotten the go ahead for our End Of Summer
BYOPC LAN event. Once we have the final details fixed up we'll send you
guys another mail about it. Anyway, as usual keep an eye on the site and
forums for more info on the events and any other news with the society.

Hi folks,
Well its that time of year again and so, as the subject of this mail
suggests, Games Soc are going to be holding its AGM soon. The event itself
we will be held next Tuesday, March 21st in CG12 in the Henry Gratten

also be a place to voice any of your opinions about the running of the
society in general and to ask any of the current committee any questions
you have regarding the positions. There will also be a thread on the
forums, http://games.redbrick.dcu.ie/forums, regarding this so feel free

Hey folks,
Just to let you know that we'll be having the last sign up for the BYOPC
LAN TODAY from 12-3. This is going to be the last scheduled time to sign
up so after this if anyone wants to attend the event they're going to have
to arrange to meet one of the committee and pay the entrance fee. We will
not be admitting people on the day due to the larger numbers involved this
time.
However don't fret, there are still a few places left so if your
interested in coming then pop along to the stand and sign up!

place this Wednesday in the Seminar Room from 1-4:30pm. This event
promises to be one of the most eclectic of the year as we take a trip down

encouraging you guys to bring along any old consoles and games that youd
like played so if you have any up in the attic then dustem off and bring
them along!
There will also be competitions held during the event with prizes being
donated by the lovely people at Games Exchange, Dublins largest retailer
of Retro, Second Hand and hard to find PC and console games. Refreshments
will also be provided to keep you guys going in between sessions.
As I said it should be a really good event so hope to see you all there.

events and this semesters event will be no different. This event is run

to set up your rigs. The event will then continue on through the day and
night until midday on Sunday. Throughout the weekend well be running a
series of competitions in Quake 3, Counter Strike, Dawn Of War and a
mystery game which will be announced on the day. Outside of the

Now as many of you probably know its TechWeek this week here in DCU and as
part of this Games Soc will be running its own events. First up is a talk
by Tony Kelly of Torc Interactive, one of Irelands largest and most

it is producing. Check out http://www.torcinteractive.com for more info.
