Hi everyone,
The DCUfm meeting will take place on wednesday (10 feb)at 2pm in C115. everyone
who has emailed me about doing a show needs to attend this meeting and hand
up a short (very short) written proposal with the name of their show and
the basic outline of the show on it. the timetable is full at the moment,
there's even a waiting list for people who are really enthusiastic about
doing a show. i really want to give everyone a chance. i have some people
down on the timetable who i haven't anything from in months or never emailed
me back with regards to what their show is about, if i don't hear anything
from these people by wednesday i'll assume they're not going ahead with
their shows. hopefully then there'll be extra spaces for people waiting
for a slot.
if you really can't make the meeting then email me the details of your show
by wednesday afternoon.
hope to see you all on wednesday,
thanks Kim.
Hi all,
The DCUTV meeting will take place in the seminar Room on the first floor
of the Hub at three o'clock on Thursday. Again I urge anyone who has made/is
making/wants to make a show to attend. Everyone is welcome to come along.
Tom
Hi,
Just dropping you all a line on DCUTV for this year. We are going well but
we need your help and support in making other shows. The following is the
list of shows that we will be making that need all crew members and in some
cases presenters. I would appreciate if you would read through it and email
me back saying what you would like to do.
Soap: there are 5 shows and we need a crew for each one. Auditions will
also be held for actors soon.
Studio Program: we need a team with an idea for a show to come together
and produce it. Any ideas are welcome.
Doc/Mocumentary: we want a team to work on any idea ranging from the special
olympics to a piss take of pop idol!
Dating Programme: 1 girl, 4 guys. she dates each of the guys and decides
on the winner in the final show. Really easy to make uses only mini-dv's.
Cookery type show: 3 students, E20, let loose in tesco, cook food and then
a winner. again easy to make, only mini dv's.
Music Videos: We want bands to come in and perform and we will make a video
for them, and plus they get brilliant advertising! we need a band and crew
to make this.
Stand-up Comedy: we would love some comedians to do a spot for a few minutes
for each night.
Skits:would also love some mock ad scripts and people to make them.
The list does not end here, if you have any other ideas please email me
with them.
Thanx a million,
Sarah, Programmes Officer
Hey guys,
hope everybody enjoyed the break.
What better way to finish off rag week than with a fantastic trip away?!
We're going to to Cork for two nights Fri 21st and Sat 22nd of this month,
which is
the end of week three. For a mere ?11 you get to have the best time of your
student
life (not neccesarily guaranteed). We're staying in 'An Oige' hostel which
is right beside the city centre, and it includes bed linen- so there'll
be no lugging of
sleeping bags around - and two breakfasts. We'll be busing there and back
and it'll
be just the perfect oppurtunity for all to get to know one another as the
journeys
about five hours!!!
So the committe's all going (check out what rides we are at www.http://redbrick.dcu.ie/~mps),
and there's a limited number
of places available so you better mail me back fairly lively if you want
to go!
i'll mail you back only if you got a place.
Other news:::
our website is finally up! colette and naomi did a fantastic job, it'll
be updated
by the end of the week so keep your eyes peeled.
Don't forget about the FM and TV meetings next week on wednesday and thursday
respectively.
Hybrid are sill looking for contributors (DJ's,images,& videos)so get on
to the
editor: colette.godfrey2(a)mail.dcu.ie
that's all for now folks,
See you in Cork!

Chair MPS
Hi all,
Hope everyone has spent their hard earned two weeks off working on television
shows for our beloved station. There will be a meeting next Thursday at
three o'clock to discuss the television side of MPS. Particularly important
is that people who are producing shows, or who have an idea for a show attend,
but as always all are welcome. A venue has not yet been confirm but no doubt
the location will be spectacular - i'll let you know tomorrow.
See you all there,
Tom
Hi everyone,
i hope you all had a great time over the holidays. i'm emailing to tell
you the fantastic news that DCUfm is less than 5 weeks away, it's going
on air on monday the 10th of march until friday the 14th. so far i've had
a great response from people interested in doing shows, but i do still have
a good few evening slots left to fill. so for anyone who hasn't emailed
me with a proposal for a show yet, don't be afraid to get in contact, it's
not too late, there are still slots there.
i know alot of people were busy over the holidays with assignments and exams
(as was i) and didn't get a chance to really think about the show they're
doing but now that we're back i really need everyone to start thinking seriously
about your shows. i was going to have a meeting this week but i think it'll
be better to leave it until next wednesday the 12th february so everyone
has a chance to settle back in and do a bit of work for their show before
the meeting.
at next wednesdays meeting i need EVERYONE who is doing a show to turn up.
i need you to think of a name for your show?, i also need you to tell me
if your show will be live or pre-recorded, or a mixture of both? i need
to talk to everyone about how long your show will be? and also i just need
a few more concrete details on what your shows are about? for example people
have emailed me just saying that they'd like to do an alternative music
show, but haven't followed up the email telling how it's alternative exactly
and what music they plan on playing on the show? it's up to you totally
what your content is on your show, i just need to know a few details for
when i make up the programme schedule for the week. i plan on making a rough
programme schedule by the end of next week so it's very important that everyone
gives me these details by next wednesday. for people coming to the meeting
it'd be great if you would write down these details on a piece of paper
for me with your name on it and hand it up to me. if you really can't make
the meeting then just send me email with a proper proposal for your show.
If anyone is doing a pre-recorded show or needs to pre-record just certain
bits like an interview for example, let me know soon because you will need
studio time and some of you may need someone to operate the desk for you.
i will be booking studio time every week now (probably on wednesdays)leading
up to DCUfm so anyone who needs to record something just turn up if it's
small, but if it's a big interview or something email me in advance and
let me know when you need to record and me and aidan will organise something.
in some cases like documentaries or dramas you have no choice but to pre-record
but if it's a music show you can nearly always do it live. my advice is
if you have that choice then DO IT LIVE, it's the most fun and best experience.
doing a show live is the best buzz, you don't get that when you pre-record.
this advice is mainly for people who are new to it and haven't done a show
before, i know it's nerve-racking, but i'm telling you it's worth it, just
go for it. you'll be fine!
hope to see you all next week,
oh my god this email was way too long,
Kim Murphy
Programmes Officer.
